6/23/08No major rotator cuff damage was found during Schilling's shoulder surgery on Monday. He did though have his labrum repaired along with his biceps tendon injury. He has yet to decide whether he will return in 2009.

2/10/08The Boston Globe reports that Schilling received a cortisone shot in his shoulder on Friday. There is a difference of opinion between team doctors and Schilling's doctor as to whether a tendon in the shoulder is torn or just damaged. If it is torn, he will require surgery.

Since Schilling didn't have as much time to prepare for the season as he likes, a slow start isn't too surprising. If you can sway a disgruntled owner that he "is done", then get him. He will return to his dominant self shortly.

7/10/04Curt Schilling will skip the All-Star Game because of his injured right ankle. "My priority is always the organization," Schilling said. "There's always an outside chance something could happen if I pitch that would impact my second half and I'm not willing to take that chance." Schilling's injury should lead to Mark Mulder starting the game. A replacement has yet to be named. Pedro Martinez probably isn't an option and Johan Santana is due to pitch Sunday, so the AL should probably take another reliever if winning the game is the goal. Keith Foulke and Eddie Guardado would be the best choices.
6/25/04Curt Schilling (bone bruise in right ankle joint) was able to throw fastballs in the bullpen yesterday without any medication for the first time in almost six weeks. His ankle seems to be getting better. When healthy, there is no doubt Schilling is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.
6/18/04Curt Schilling reported that his right ankle (bone bruise) felt fine after Wednesday's start. Schilling will have an MRI today to determine, if he there is any further damage in the ankle, and whether he can continue to pitch with the injury.
6/13/04Curt Schilling will not need surgery on his bruised ankle. While Schilling may have to be shut down for two to four weeks if his ankle injury regresses, according to team Dr. Morgan "If he continues to have discomfort, then this postseason, if all else is negative, we'd do an arthroscopy to have a look...at this point, there's no contemplation of surgery and there's no plans for surgery in the near future." Schilling has been wearing a removable brace on the ankle when he's not pitching and the team has ordered a high-density bone stimulator to try to hasten the healing. He has also been using hot-and-cold contrast therapy and has taken various anti-inflammatory medications, including one steroid cortisone injection. "As long as it's not getting worse, we're OK," according to manager Terry Francona. If you own Schilling the best you can hope for is a short trip to the D.L., but since it has not seemed to limit his effectiveness, perhaps Schilling will be able to continue to pitch through his ankle pain.
6/10/04Curt Schilling, who continues to be bothered by an ankle injury, will make his scheduled start tonight. He has had a sore ankle since the begining of the season, and has had to take shots prior to his starts to relieve the pain. Schilling also wears a brace on the ankle between starts. For now, he will continue to pitch with discomfort, but Schilling's injury is something you should keep an eye on.
2/21/04Curt Schilling may have an ace up his sleeve this season. Schilling said he is working on a new pitch, which he hopes to add to his fastball, split-fingered fastball and slider. He wouldn't disclose what the pitch is, but the obvious choices are curveball and changeup. Schilling has spoken with manager Terry Francona about not facing clubs in the American League East this spring to prevent hitters from getting familiar with his stuff. It's a practice he adhered to with Philadelphia and Arizona.

11/28/03Today's 3:00 deadline for Curt Schilling to work out a contract extension with the Red Sox has been extended for 24 hours.
11/24/03The Diamondbacks and Red Sox have reportedly agreed on a trade that would send Schilling to Boston in exchange for Casey Fossum and minor-leaguers. The D'Backs would then send Fossum and three other minor-leaguers to Milwaukee in exchange for Richie Sexson. The Red Sox and Schilling have 72 hours to work out a contract or else Schilling will veto the deal.
