4/20/09Massachusetts General Hospital’s tests on Freel indicated he had no significant injury after he was hit in the back of the head in a pickoff move at second base at Fenway Park this morning. After getting hit, he lay face down and motionless for two or three minutes, his legs sprawled as Orioles’ trainers tended to him. A team spokesman said that Freel never lost consciousness, and was talking in the clubhouse before he went to the hospital. “He had a pretty good knot on the back of his head,” Orioles manager Dave Trembley said.
12/09/08Freel was traded to the Orioles along with two minor leaguers in exchange for Ramon Hernandez.
