8/26/10Brad Hawpe had not quite cleared waivers yet, and teams still had all day Tuesday to claim the outfielder if they wanted to pay his salary for the rest of the year.
8/25/10A source informed Troy Renck of the Denver Post that Brad Hawpe has cleared waivers and is now able to sign with any team. The waivers were just a formality anyway. 8/20/10According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, Brad Hawpe won't clear release waivers until Monday or Tuesday. Once he does, he will be free to sign with any team. Rosenthal writes that the White Sox, Rangers and Rays are the "most logical" fits for Hawpe, but since he'll be paid the prorated major league minimum the rest of the way, he could make sense for any number of teams. Rosenthal even drops the Twins as a possibility, presumably as a backup plan for Justin Morneau.

8/19/10The Denver Post reports that Brad Hawpe will be released by the Rockies.
8/19/10According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com that Brad Hawpe has cleared waivers. Hawpe can now be traded to any team. The Rockies are expected to make a move rather quickly. He should drum up some interest, but it's worth noting that he's hitting just .175 with two homers, four RBI and a 642 OPS since the All-Star break. His contract includes a $10 million club option for next season or a $500,000 buyout. It's possible that the Rockies just cut bait with him if they don't find a deal to their liking. Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that outfielder Brad Hawpe will be released by the Rockies after Wednesday night's game.
8/18/10Troy Renck of the Denver Post speculates that the Rockies could soon make a move with Brad Hawpe.

7/31/10ESPN's Jayson Stark is reporting that the Rockies are telling teams they couldn't trade Brad Hawpe right now even if they wanted to. Allegedly it's because they might need him to play first base with the uncertain health of Todd Helton. We are highly skeptical that this is more than just posturing, as Colorado surely wouldn't blink at unloading Hawpe and the money owed to him if they got a decent package in return. The two teams that reportedly have had interest in him, the Tigers and White Sox, probably aren't offering much of a package.
7/31/10According to the Denver Post's Troy Renck, Brad Hawpe remains on the radar for the Tigers and White Sox.

"I hit today -- definitely not pain-free," Hawpe told MLB.com. "It's something I'm going to be dealing with for a while. Yesterday, I did swing, but I didn't feel real good. 4/27/10"I can do batting practice," he said. "I can run around. I just can't run more than 80 percent. If in this sport it were OK where you could try to run at 80 percent, I'd be fine. You can do that in BP, but you can't do that in a baseball game."
4/25/10The Rockies called up utility man Eric Young Jr. from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Sunday after placing right fielder Brad Hawpe on the 15-day disabled list with a stained left quadriceps.
