| 9/09/10 | Duensing (8-2, 2.02 ERA) allowed one run and struck out seven Royals' batters over eight innings yesterday as the Twins beat Zack Greinke and KC, 4-3. Duensing has allowed one earned run or fewer in four of his last five starts. He faces the White Sox, against whom he has a couple wins, next. |
| 9/03/10 | In last night's 13-inning loss to the Tigers, Duensing pitched two innings on one day of rest. He had thrown 103 pitches in the first game of the series against Detroit. He won't be starting Sunday as had been planned. |
| 9/01/10 | Duensing pitched 6.2 innings last night in a no-decision, giving up three unearned runs on nine hits and one walk. His ERA dropped to 2.04 in the 4-3 win over the Tigers. |
| 8/26/10 | Duensing didn't pitch THAT badly last night. He didn't win, but he didn't pitch that badly in losing 4-3 to the Rangers in Texas. Duensing (7-2, 2.19 ERA) struck out five batters and walked one over six innings. He did give up two HR. Until last night, he had gone 7-0 over his career when he pitched at least six innings. |
| 8/21/10 | Duensing (7-1, 1.92 ERA) tossed eight innings of one-run ball in a 7-2 win over the Angels last night. He scattered seven hits and issued one walk, while striking out six batters. Only one hit went for extra bases. He has gone 4-1 with 1.59 ERA in six starts with the Twins this season. Duensing volunteered to pitch the ninth inning last night, but manager Ron Gardenhire said that Duensing has five starts remaining, and that he wants Duensing fresh for them. That means Duensing is not returning to the bullpen. What does Duensing have in his repertoire of pitches? He has a changeup, curveball, slider, and a heavy sinking fastball. |
| 8/15/10 | Duensing (6-1) threw his first career shutout in yesterday's 2-0 complete game victory over the A's. In his first start at Target Field he allowed only three hits and two walks. In addition, he struck out four batters. He has a 2.00 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 44 total appearances, five of which have been starts. His repertoire consists of a deceptive delivery and sharp breaking balls with the ability to mix up his pitches. And, yes, he has successfully confounded fantasy baseball prognosticators, who thought that he was merely using smoke and mirrors last year. |
| 8/09/10 | Duensing (5-1) pitched a career-high 7.1 innings on Sunday, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits in a 5-4 win over the Indians. He gave up three runs in the first inning, and allowed an unearned run in the second before settling down. He retired 12 of his last 14 batters, striking out three without a walk in his fourth start this year and 13th his career. |
| 8/04/10 | Duensing pitched well for six innings yesterday, giving up three runs on four hits, but he also served up four walks. The three runs came in the first inning, but he re-focused and threw five scoreless frames afterwards. He did not get a decision in the 6-4 loss to the Rays. Duensing threw 92 pitches, 50 for strikes, once again stepping up his workload as he acclimates to being part of the Twins' starting rotation. |
| 7/29/10 | Duensing (4-1, 1.83 ERA) gave up two runs over six innings as the Twins completed a sweep of the Royals yesterday with a 6-4 win. |
| 7/24/10 | Leaving the bullpen to make his first start of the year, Duensing (1.69 ERA) allowed one run on four hits and no walks in five innings to the Orioles. He did not factor into the decision of the 3-2 loss. He last started on September 29. |
| 7/21/10 | The Twins moved Nick Blackburn into the bullpen and slotted Duensing to start for the team on Friday in Baltimore. Duensing has a 1.67 ERA in 43 innings, all in relief. He made nine starts last season. |
| 7/19/10 | The Twins are preparing Duensing for a move into the rotation after stretching him out with a four-inning relief stint in Sunday's victory over the White Sox. He provided a boost to the rotation last season when it was struggling - as it is now. He went 5-1 with a 2.64 ERA after joining the rotation full-time on August 22. |
| 7/18/10 | Duensing (3-1) pitched four innings against the White Sox today and picked up the win in the Twins' 7-6 victory. He gave up one run on seven hits. |
| 7/11/10 | Duensing tossed another scoreless inning in yesterday's game, lowering his ERA to 1.66. If he enters the Twins' rotation (which needs an infusion), he will need time to stretch out. He has not pitched more than an inning in a game since June 24. |
