The start of the 2017 season was chaotic, to say the least, for the Dolphins, whose opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was postponed because of Hurricane Irma. Instead, the Dolphins spent a week in Southern California for their Week 2 game against the Chargers and their temporary home of StubHub Center, a soccer stadium with a third the seating capacity of a normal NFL stadium. This was the Dolphins debut for QB Jay Cutler, who threw a TD pass to Kenny Stills, and Jay Ajayi began his post-Pro Bowl campaign by rushing for 122 yards. The 6-foot-5, 311-pounder is a player trending up apparently, as he has plenty of interest from other teams and another stamp of approval from a former Bears offensive coordinator. Mike Tice, the former Vikings head coach and Bears coordinator during the Jay Cutler era, did an analysis of various offensive linemen in the draft for his son Nate's ESPN podcast, and the end result was overwhelmingly positive for a player who has been called an early second-round pick by NFL Mock Draft Database's big board. Williams threw for 334 yards in Sunday's loss, marking the fourth time this season he has thrown for more than 300 yards in a game. More importantly for Williams, he is now just three yards shy of moving into the top-five on the Bears' all-time single-season passing yards list, with Jay Cutler occupying spots two through five on that ranking. With 3,271 passing yards this season, Williams is now 568 yards shy of Erik Kramer's single-season record of 3,838 yards, set back in 1995. The Bears don't usually need coaching turmoil or falling off the NFL cliff with three-game losing streaks to cause problems when they face the Green Bay Packers. What an opponent for embattled Matt Eberflus to be facing a week after their offense came up DOA against the putrid New England Patriots at Soldier Field. The recent Bears collapse this week reminded some veteran Bears beat reporters of the Marc Trestman 2014 collapse, except without a crying offensive coordinator apologizing to the team after making Jay Cutler into a sympathetic figure. If this is where they've fallen, look for some sort of blowout defeat like the 55-14 defeat they suffered at midseason against the Packers in 2014 several weeks before Trestman's dismissal. 10/18/24	Ex-Bears QB Jay Cutler reportedly arrested for DUI. Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, who played 12 seasons in the league for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins, was reportedly arrested on the charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to exercise due care, violation of implied consent law, and possession of a handgun while under the influence, according to a recent report. TMZ posted a purported mug shot of Cutler following his arrest in Tennessee. Shortly after being booked, Cutler reportedly posted bond, which was $5,000, and was released from jail.
