2/23/25 Chargers somehow net a comp pick while Bears look hilariously bad. The Los Angeles Chargers are projected to get a trio of compensatory picks in the 2025 NFL draft this year. One of those stems from losing tight end Gerald Everett in free agency, which projects them to get back a sixth-round pick. This mini-saga took a twist over the last few days, though, as the Chicago Bears just surprisingly cut Everett just one year into his two-year deal signed last offseason. Long story short, Everett's stint with the Bears turned out to be a disaster – he caught just eight passes for 36 yards across 17 games, eventually only showing up on special teams.

3/21/24 Gerald Everett sees success for Bears' offense before QB pick. Tight end Gerald Everett thinks “the sky's the limit” for the Chicago Bears' offense in 2023, even though the player who likely will have the most to say about the level of play isn't on the team yet. After trading Justin Fields, their No. 1 quarterback for the past three seasons and the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, the Bears are expected to select a quarterback with the first pick in the NFL Draft on April 25, with Southern Cal's Caleb Williams the odds-on choice.
