Geno Smith Brings Everything the Raiders Have Been Looking For. Once the new Las Vegas Raiders regime of head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek got hired, they got straight to work on what they needed to do to setup the Silver and Black for success in 2025. The first and the most important thing that the regime has to do this offseason is to find a quarterback with experience, leadership, and one who will give them stability. Carroll and Spytek came together and got their answer. It was veteran quarterback Geno Smith.

Buccaneers wideout on 'comeback watch' for 2025 season. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Chris Godwin has faced some adversity in his career, but he's always bounced back. Godwin suffered a brutal injury during the 2021 season, suffering a torn ACL and MCL against the New Orleans Saints in Week 15. Unfortunately, that all came to halt when he suffered a dislocated ankle against the Baltimore Ravens early in the year, putting an end to what could have been a historic campaign. Experts project Geno Smith will improve with the Raiders but not how fans think. Geno Smith's career turned around for the better when he became the full-time starter for the Seattle Seahawks in 2022. Despite being drafted in 2013, Smith made the first Pro Bowls of his career in 2022 and 2023. After three straight seasons of some of the best quarterback play in the league, Smith was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. While expectations for the veteran quarterback may not be incredibly high, he is a significant upgrade from who the team has had at quarterback in recent years.

The New York Giants are likely to emerge from the 2025 offseason feeling much more confident about their ability to execute on offense based on the development of the talent already on the team and the various acquisitions they have made since the 2024 season concluded. Small things like what the running back carries split will look like, how they will better utilize Darius Slayton this season, and whether they will use Jalin Hyatt are all fun conversational topics. Over his five seasons in the NFL, Andrew Thomas has only suited up for every regular-season game twice. The second was the 2022 season when the current regime took over.

Eagles odds and ends: The 'Tush Push' vote felt personal. The vote to ban the "Tush Push" was held, and it didn't pass. On Tuesday, as the NFL owners were meeting in Minnesota to reach a ruling on the play (along with a list of other topics like 2028 flag football Olympic participation), Eagles players and head coach Nick Sirianni met with the media at the NovaCare Complex and mostly shrugged off the looming decision. Then word broke Wednesday that the "Tush Push" would remain, and it got petty. Within minutes, the Eagles' social media team had posts up of a photo of Jalen Hurts and the Birds lining up for their signature play against the Green Bay Packers, the team that put the "Tush Push" ban proposal on the table.

Saints Writer Identifies Glaring Weakness, Team Need. The New Orleans Saints have faced a lot of issues this offseason. The biggest issue facing the team was the quarterback position, notably Derek Carr's injury and eventual retirement. Carr's shocking retirement decision left the Saints with a very depleted quarterback room. Luckily, the Saints opted to target a quarterback in the NFL Draft and landed Louisville's Tyler Shough in the second round a few weeks before Carr opted to retire.

Despite the fact the unit was part of a team that won 12 regular season games and made a deep run in the playoffs, there wasn't a unit left unscathed when it came to outsiders pushing for the Commanders to make sometimes drastic changes. When it came to the secondary, there were those who believed outside of cornerback Mike Sainristil that the whole unit needed to be replaced, including safety Quan Martin. When NFL.com's Gennaro Filice sat down to put together his list of the most under-appreciated players in the NFC, Martin landed at the top of his list from the roster in Washington.

The Carolina Panthers traded back into the first round last year in the draft and selected Xavier Legette, a player they hoped could be Bryce Young's top weapon. According to Joseph Person of the Athletic, Legette is one of seven players with a lot to prove in a key 2025 season. There is such a thing as a sophomore slump, but for Legette's sake, he will need to avoid anything but clear improvement in 2025. Person said that Legette's shortcomings prompted the selection of Tetairoa McMillan.

Chicago Bears' Week 4 statistical leaders, predicted—Vegas, baby, Vegas. There are some games on an NFL schedule that get both players and fans alike all tingly. Lions' Sam LaPorta: 'Everybody Deserves the Ball'. Subsequently, the belief, among many fans and pundits, was that LaPorta would build upon (or at least replicate) this high level of production in his second year as a pro. It didn't quite happen for the 2023 second-round pick, however, as his number of catches, receiving yards and touchdowns all went down in 2024. DK Metcalf places ahead of Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba in PFF's WR rankings. The Seattle Seahawks' trade of DK Metcalf this offseason was about more than just acquiring cap space and draft capital for the future. In years past, trading Metcalf would've been a scary proposition without a player capable of replacing him. Now, though, they have that player in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who had an outstanding second season with 100 receptions (tied for the most in team history) for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. If he continues to improve, he could become one of the best receivers to wear a Seahawks jersey when all is said and done.

Packers OTAs Preview: Big Question at Running Back. At this point last year, the Green Bay Packers had high hopes for the potential thunder-and-lightning tandem of veteran running back Josh Jacobs and rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd. Lloyd barely played last year, though it hardly mattered because Jacobs delivered a powerful debut season. In some ways, Jacobs was just as good as Eagles star Saquon Barkley, the 2,000-yard rusher and NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

One player to watch from each Panthers' opponent, Weeks 9-18. The Bucs drafted Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka at No. 19 overall in this year's draft. Egbuka was primarily used as a slot receiver but has the ability to line up at any spot. The Buccaneers are still confident Chris Godwin (dislocated left ankle in Week 7 last season) will be available by Week 1 of this year.

Falcons Say 'No-Brainer' Signing German Kicker Krieg, Expect Competition with Koo. Lenny Krieg often didn't know his holder. In perhaps the biggest job interview of his life, Krieg, a kicker who hails from Berlin, Germany, aced his NFL Combine test -- right in front of Atlanta Falcons special teams coordinator Marquice Williams. Krieg's performance at the combine capped what was a pivotal part in a lengthy process that started in Ireland, but he didn't generate substantial interest until another quality showing at the International Player Pathway program pro day March 26. The Falcons signed Krieg the next day -- but Williams, at least internally, was sold on Krieg at the combine.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts' offseason work: 'Decode, detect and correct'. Two days after the Eagles won by NFL championship for the 2024 season by beating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9, the New Orleans Saints named Philadelphia offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their head coach. The Eagles stayed in-house to fill the vacancy.
