Brad Holmes takes aim at critics of 'positional value' with new draft-day attire. Lions general manager Brad Holmes began wearing “VILLAIN” shirts in the last year, a subtle jab at the naysayers and disbelievers of the rebuild in Detroit. In fact, everyone else did too, including owner Sheila Hamp, head coach Dan Campbell and team president Rod Wood. Holmes took criticism for taking a running back (Jahmyr Gibbs) and stand-up linebacker (Jack Campbell) in the first 18 picks of last year's draft. Both positions have been devalued in today's NFL, but Holmes stuck with his evaluation that both guys were the best players and fits for Detroit.

Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers are currently in the midst of what figures to be a highly important offseason as for the future direction of the franchise following their recent run to the Super Bowl, which culminated in a heartbreaking overtime defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime from Las Vegas, Nevada. Ex-NFL QB doesn't think Kellen Moore will excel with Eagles. Former NFL quarterback David Carr doesn't think Kellen Moore is a good fit for the Philadelphia Eagles. During NFL Network's pre-draft coverage on Friday, Carr explained that he likes Moore's offensive approach, but he questions whether that system matches what quarterback Jalen Hurts and the rest of the offense does best. This is one of the reasons why Carr believes there's “no gap” between any of the teams in the NFC East.

A reunion between the Dallas Cowboys and free-agent running back Ezekiel Elliott is "increasingly imminent," according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. Gehlken reported the team's pursuit of Elliott is independent of what might happen in the 2024 NFL draft. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke highly of Texas running back Jonathon Brooks, so it seems reasonable to think the team could target Brooks in the second or third rounds.

Were Seattle Seahawks trolling with pictures in draft day videos?. The Seattle Seahawks seemed to lean into the “picture gate” controversy on the first day of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Seahawks – if this was planned, and it had to be – showed a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing in a pair of videos they shared on social media. Last week, a minor firestorm appeared when media members showed up for some press conferences at Seahawks headquarters in Renton and passed along that a noticeable wall between the team's meeting room and indoor practice facility was bare. This was worth mentioning because it had previously been covered in pictures and slogans from the Pete Carroll era, which ended in January when the Seahawks moved on from the legendary head coach after 14 seasons.

Tyler Lockett to announce third-round draft pick for Seahawks. The NFL typically has team legends announce the picks on Day 2 of the draft. Ari Meirov just shared the list, which shows Tyler Lockett will be announcing the Seahawks' third-round pick this year (No. 81 overall). Lockett was of course a third-round pick himself back in 2015 when Seattle sent four draft picks to Washington in order to move up to No. 69 overall, where they picked Lockett. Having taken a paycut this offseason, Lockett will return for his 10th season in Seattle.
