Boston has had an inconsistent season, for sure, and yet it still is two games above .500 and is just going to get better. The Red Sox have navigated the season so far after all of the drama with Rafael Devers, trading him away, losing Alex Bregman to the Injured List for a while, losing Triston Casas for the season, losing Tanner Houck for a while, not having Masataka Yoshida available, integrating three of the top prospects in the game, and the list goes on. The Red Sox have already gone through more than some teams will in an entire year and the All-Star break hasn't even passed yet.

Rodriguez has hit second much of the year, and now, he's doing it in front of Cal Raleigh. Rockies Manager Shares More Details On Why Star Rookie Was Demoted. The Colorado Rockies have boasted one of the worst pitching staffs in recent memory over the first several months of the 2025 season, with the team ranking at or near the bottom of the league in every major statistical category. Just about every pitcher in the Rockies clubhouse has struggled to find any success on the bump, and this includes the team's former top prospect in right-hander Chase Dollander. Colorado took Dollander with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft in hopes that he would become their Ace of the future, and the rookie made his big league debut back at the start of April. The Rockies promoted the righty in hopes that he would add some stability to a shaky at best rotation, but it's become very apparent that he isn't quite ready for The Show just yet.

Tigers Promoting Star Prospects Together Shows Confidence in Franchise's Future. The Detroit Tigers made some absolutely massive news on Sunday afternoon when it was announced they were promoting not one, not two, but three of their top prospects to Double-A Erie. In a season where all three of No. 1 prospect Kevin McGonigle, No. 2 Max Clark, and No. 4 Josue Briceño have all proven more than enough to show they were ready for the jump from High-A West Michigan, the Tigers have made a clear statement: this trio is the future of the franchise. In just 36 games for the Whitecaps, he has commanded the spotlight by slashing .372/.462/.648 with seven home runs and 39 RBI while collecting 54 hits and striking out just 19 times. Briceño has been the most powerful, however that does not mean he's just a boom or bust slugger either.

How to Watch Phillies Top Prospect Andrew Painter Pitch on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Phillies already have one of the very best starting rotations in all of baseball, and even more help is on the way. While Zack Wheeler vies for the first National League Cy Young award of his career and Cristopher Sanchez and Jesus Luzardo establish themselves as legitimate top-of-the-rotation arms, a crop of young reinforcements is working its way through the minor leagues. The group is led by top prospect Andrew Painter. The right-handed pitcher is the No. 1 prospect in the team's system and the No. 10 prospect in the entire sport according to MLB Pipeline.

Padres slugger Manny Machado gets his 2,000th career hit. Manny Machado of the San Diego Padres got his 2,000th career hit Monday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a sharp single off the glove of diving shortstop Geraldo Perdomo. The milestone hit came against starter Zac Gallen leading off the fourth inning. Machado received a standing ovation from the crowd at Petco Park, where he’s been a fan favorite since joining the Padres as a free agent in 2019. The All-Star third baseman singled to left field in the first for his 1,999th hit and homered in the eighth, but San Diego lost 6-3.

7/8/25 6:00 AM -
Astros Legendary Superstar Heating Up at Exactly Right Time. The Houston Astros are on absolute fire, winning 11 of their last 13 coming off a sweep over the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers this past weekend. The Astros entered the new week with a seven-game lead in the division over the Seattle Mariners as they continued to creep up on the best record in the American League, but a loss in their series opener against the Cleveland Guardians halted that momentum temporarily. For a team that was cast aside before the season with the thought being their dominant run was over, Houston is certainly looking the part of a group that can win the pennant once again. It was no small coincidence that as the Astros struggled, their face of the franchise in Jose Altuve was in the midst of one of the worst seasons of his stellar career.

New York Mets expecting healthy returns from key pieces. The New York Mets are back in a groove. New York started the 2025 season with adversity, having starting pitchers Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas both sidelined with injury; these ailments knocked down the quality of their rotation pretty significantly before the season even began. Now, Montas is back in the saddle, while Manaea and Kodai Senga are both incredibly close to rejoining the team, possibly before the All-Star break. Having the three of them back means this rotation will finally become what the front office imagined in the offseason when constructing this Mets squad.

Kumar Rocker's Emergence Gives Rangers Positive Outlook for Their Future. At some point in the coming weeks, the Texas Rangers will have to make a potentially franchise-altering decision. Since the 2023 season where they performed at the peak of their powers to win their first-ever World Series championship, it has been nothing but disappointment. Key players up and down the roster were placed on the shelf throughout the campaign, which made it difficult for the Rangers to ever get enough momentum to carry them back into the playoffs. Getting back pieces for future success is starting to feel like the smartest course of action barring a red-hot stretch that puts the Rangers firmly in the Wild Card picture before the July 31 trade deadline.

Major League Baseball's trade deadline is just over three weeks away, and speculation regarding the Boston Red Sox's plans continues to grow with the team climbing back into Wild Card contention after going 6-4 over their last 10 games. The Red Sox continue to be a team many baseball insiders view as buyers on July 31, and with first base the most obvious position with room for an upgrade, the team has previously been connected to Baltimore Orioles All-Star Ryan O'Hearn and Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Josh Naylor. One infieder, Ha-Seong Kim, was already out, then Jose Caballero was a pregame scratch with an arm injury. Then in the top of the first inning, second baseman Brandon Lowe left the game with left-side tightness after a swing. Caballero was pressed back into duty, playing the entire game despite being less than 100 percent.

Corey Seager (SS - TEX)

7/7/25 11:34 AM -
Corey Seager Sends Crucial Message To Rangers Ahead of All-Star Break. At this stage of the season, it's hard to expect much more out of the Texas Rangers. This has been one of the strangest storylines throughout the 2025 campaign, as the Rangers were expected to be a real American League and World Series contender based on what they did during the winter to augment an already-talented roster on paper. What complicates things is the Wild Card race, where the Rangers sit just four games out of the final spot despite not playing close to their ceiling. There's belief -- both internally and externally -- that Texas will be able to reach another gear at some point this season and make a real push for the playoffs where anything can happen with their talented rotation and experienced lineup.

The Colorado Rockies have four selections in the top 77 of the 2025 MLB draft, which they will be using to help restock their farm system. Anthony Volpe's father, Michael, was recorded during a heated moment with Mets fans at Citi Field during the seventh inning stretch. Before the singing of “God Bless America” at Citi Field, the father of the Yankees' shortstop defended his son from a Mets fan who was apparently talking smack. In a video making the rounds on social media from the Yankees' 6-4 win over the Mets , Michael was seen tossing expletives at a Mets fan while his wife, Isabelle, tried to calm him. @shlomo_szmidt Anthony volpes dad getting into it and defending his son from some Mets fans at citi field today @ESPN @MLB @MLB

Mets' Juan Soto sends brutally honest message about All-Star Game snub. New York Mets fans have a reason to be indignant about the All-Star Game once again. Yes, shortstop Francisco Lindor is finally making his first appearance for the National League in year five with the club. First baseman Pete Alonso earned his fifth selection as well. Outfielder Juan Soto, a four-time All-Star with the Washington Nationals, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees, failed to make the initial All-Star roster as a reserve in the first year of his 15-year, $765 million contract.

7/7/25 5:39 AM -
Outspoken Former Red Sox Catcher Weighs In On Betting Scandal. Major League Baseball launched an investigation last week involving Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Luis Ortiz after two of his pitches were flagged as suspicious during games in June. Ortiz was placed on paid leave until July 17 pending the results of the investigation. The unusual pitches took place during games on June 15 and June 27, where Ortiz's pitches fell well short of the strike zone on the first pitch, calling into question whether he threw them intentionally to influence the outcome of prop bets on gambling apps. While betting scandals are nothing new in baseball, the growing trend of online sportsbooks and gambling apps has led to a handful of suspensions over the last few seasons.

As Yankees limp toward All-Star break, they'd 'love to' trade for this 3B — and sit DJ LeMahieu. If the New York Yankees had their way, DJ LeMahieu's time as a regular would expire by the July 31 trade deadline. The latest indication of this was reported by USA TODAY Sports' MLB insider Bob Nightengale, who wrote Sunday about their interest in two third basemen, which would slide Jazz Chisholm back to second base, his stronger defensive position. The Yankees would love to acquire D-backs third baseman Eugenio Suárez at the deadline and slide Jazz Chisholm back to second base.

Mackenzie Gore (P - WSH)

7/7/25 5:00 AM -
Washington Nationals Japanese Rookie Has Less Than Ideal MLB Debut. The Washington Nationals have been dealing with a number of struggles in 2025, and chief among them has been the terrible overall production they have received from their starting rotation. Outside of their star ace in MacKenzie Gore, the rest of the Nationals' starters have fallen woefully short of expectations, which has, in turn, made it extremely challenging for the team as a whole to find any sort of consistent success. As such, the highly anticipated debut of star Japanese pitcher Shinnosuke Ogasawara on Sunday afternoon against the Boston Red Sox stirred excitement among many to see just what the left-hander was capable of. Washington signed the former NPB star to a two-year, $3.5 million deal in January, marking the first time the Nationals had signed a player directly from Japan.

Superstar slugger Aaron Judge played a big part in the Mets not being able to secure a sweep over the Yankees on Sunday, as he smashed a two-run home run in the fifth inning off of Brandon Waddell, which was his 33rd home run of the 2025 season. The word used late Sunday night in the Cardinals clubhouse after a messy 11-0 loss to the archrival Chicago Cubs was “reevaluation.” The right-hander did not complete the second inning, and he's allowed 17 runs in his previous 10 innings, his ERA ballooning from 3.54 to 4.79 in the span of 11 days.
