2/8 Cliff Lee (P-SEA) Lee underwent minor surgery on his left foot last Friday. The surgery removed a floating bone spur in his left foot that broke from its attachment. He will not need a cast and is expected to resume normal baseball activities in the next two to three weeks.

2/8 Marcus Thames (DH/OF-NYY) The Yankees have signed Thames to a $900,000 contract. Incentives can earn him up to $2 million.

2/8 Dirk Hayhurst (P-TOR) Hayhurst underwent surgery to repair his labrum and is expected to miss most of the season.

2/7 Brian Giles (OF-LAD) The Dodgers signed 39-year-old outfielder Brian Giles to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Major League camp, the club confirmed. Giles could compete with Jason Repko and Xavier Paul to be a fifth outfielder, should the Dodgers carry that many, or compete with Doug Mientkiewicz for the left-handed pinch-hitter role.

2/7 Nate Schierholtz (OF-SF) Nate Schierholtz will arrive in spring training the odds-on favorite to be the starting right fielder in 2010 Schierholtz, who turns 26 in eight days, batted .267 with five homers, 29 RBIs and a .302 on-base percentage in 2009, his first full year in the majors. He was blocked by Winn and had only 285 at-bats.

2/6 Dana Eveland (P-TOR) The A's have traded Eveland to Toronto for cash considerations.

2/6 Jonny Gomes (OF-FA) Reds camp is getting closer and closer to opening -- 13 days from Friday to be exact -- but outfielder Jonny Gomes seemed no closer to being signed in order to participate. There has been little movement, if any, since the Reds and Gomes' agents resumed talking last week about what would likely be a Minor League deal.

2/5 Tim Dillard (P-MIL) Dillard has cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to the minors.

2/5 Yorvit Torrealba (C-SD) The Padres signed Torrealba to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million with a $3.5 million option for 2011.

2/5 Kevin Gregg (P-TOR) The Blue Jays signed Gregg to a $2 million deal today with an option for 2011.
