8/13/25 Orioles Get Crushing Injury Update On Potential Red Sox Free Agent Target. Tuesday was a rough day for the Orioles. Before getting shut out 1-0 by the Seattle Mariners, Baltimore announced that injured star pitchers Zach Eflin and Félix Bautista will miss the rest of the season. During his pregame press conference, Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino said Eflin will have a season-ending “lower back procedure” next week. As for Bautista, Monsolino said Baltimore's All-Star closer has an appointment later this week and won't return this season.

8/12/25 Injuries won't subside for the Orioles. Eflin and Bautista the latest to be ruled out for the season. Right-hander Zach Eflin needs a lower back procedure, and closer Félix Bautista has what manager Tony Mansolino called a “significant” shoulder injury. Mansolino said Tuesday that Bautista has an appointment later this week, and the team will have another update soon. Entering Tuesday's game against Seattle, the Orioles had used 58 players. The team record is 62 from 2021, when Baltimore lost 110 games.

8/12/25 Orioles pitcher can change perception heading into free agency with strong finish. A lot has gone wrong for the Baltimore Orioles throughout the 2025 season, which has the team in their current position. The most disappointing team in baseball this year, the Orioles were considered a postseason contender at the very least, coming into the campaign with the upside to challenge for the World Series if a few things went in their favor. One of the things Baltimore needed to pan out was its starting rotation, but that group has fallen woefully short of expectations right off the bat. Injuries and ineffectiveness have plagued the starters, with one player succumbing to both being Zach Eflin.

7/29/25 MLB umpire Brian Walsh under intense scrutiny after missing obvious strike call in Orioles-Blue Jays game. MLB umpires have been scrutinized for years now, especially those behind the plate calling balls and strikes. During the AL East matchup, Orioles starter Zach Eflin delivered a pitch that broke left to right and ended up right in the heart of the plate. Blue Jays batter Ernie Clement stepped away from the dish in what appeared to be his acceptance of the first-pitch strike.

7/28/25 Inexplicit Zach Eflin called ball will have fans livid. Zach Eflin took the mound on Monday as the Baltimore Orioles squared off against a red-hot Toronto Blue Jays team. And one odd moment during his outing had Orioles fans calling for a robot umpire takeover . Facing Ernie Clement in the top of the fourth inning, Eflin laid a 90 mph sinker right over the heart of the plate . And the pitch was inexplicably called a ball. WHAAAAAT pic.twitter.com/hVrYRmWD3a — Talkin' Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) July 29, 2025 The perplexing call on the middle-middle offering left Eflin and Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman looking stunned. Eflin appeared to stare in at the home plate umpire in utter confusion. The missed call swung the count in Clement's favor and, after

7/20/25 Padres Predicted to Land $40 Million Pitcher, All-Star Outfielder in Blockbuster Trade. The San Diego Padres are expected to make a big move ahead of the July 31 trade deadline, but it remains a mystery as to where the front office will set its focus. Mike Axisa of CBS Sports seems to think president of baseball operations A.J. Preller will look to acquire Zach Eflin and Cedric Mullins from the Baltimore Orioles this summer.

7/19/25 Giants Land Zach Eflin for Two Pitching Prospects in Hypothetical Trade Proposal. With the second half of the season here for the San Francisco Giants, the race for a playoff spot in the National League is getting tight. Despite having a lot of success so far this year, the Giants are still not going to be guaranteed to make the playoffs in the NL. Currently, they are behind both the Los Angels Dodgers and the San Diego Padres in their own division, and the rest of the league has performed well also. The race for the NL Wild Card spots is going to be exciting heading into the fall, and San Francisco hopes to be in the mix.

7/13/25 Orioles rumors: 3 pitches expected to be traded. The Baltimore Orioles might not be officially ready to waive the white flag, but speculation regarding their trade deadline plans has already started to circulate. MLB insider Bob Nightengale recently reported that the Orioles could look to trade three starters who have not performed well in 2025. Zach Eflin, Charlie Morton, and Tomoyuki Sugano could all be elsewhere before the end of July. “Baltimore Orioles starter Zach Eflin, who has been out with back discomfort since late June, is expected to return to the Orioles rotation after the All-Star break, and will become immediate trade bait,” Nightengale wrote.

7/10/25 Potential Suitors for Zach Eflin as Trade Deadline Nears. With the MLB trade deadline nearing Baltimore Orioles pitcher Zach Eflin's name has been circulating more than ever. Here are a couple of potential teams that could land Eflin.

7/09/25 Orioles Send Tomoyuki Sugano to NL Contender in Hypothetical Trade Proposal. While the baseball season is a long one, the Orioles might have dug themselves too deep a hole to have a productive year in 2025. Coming into the campaign, Baltimore had high expectations for the season after two straight years of enormous success. An already weak rotation on paper didn't get off to a strong start with both Zach Eflin missing time and Grayson Rodriguez yet to pitch this campaign. Furthermore, the lineup for the Orioles didn't get off to a good enough start to help cover up their deficiencies in the rotation.

7/08/25 MLB Mock Trade: Houston Astros Land Baltimore Orioles Pitcher Zach Eflin. Major League Baseball's July 31 trade deadline is rapidly approaching. One of the teams that is widely expected to be a major seller this year is the Baltimore Orioles. One of those pieces that we're expecting to see moved is veteran starter Zach Eflin. While Eflin is in the midst of a down season, which may be the worst of his career or at least the worst in a long time, he's still a reliable veteran with a sturdy track record.

7/05/25 Orioles Manager Provides Injury Update on Multiple Key Pitchers. As the Baltimore Orioles try to scratch and claw back to the .500 mark, their interim manager recently provided some updates regarding some of their injured pitchers. It has been a challenging season thus far for the Orioles in terms of staying healthy, which has directly impacted their ability to win games. Baltimore will more than likely have to be sellers at the trade deadline despite their hesitancy to give up on the campaign since it feels like the team just simply doesn't haven enough time or talent to make a run this season. Of the three, the most notable player on the list is Zach Eflin.

7/02/25 Recent Injury to Orioles Starter Makes His Value at Trade Deadline Uncertain. The Baltimore Orioles are struggling to scratch back toward .500 despite some improved play of late. While Baltimore could solely blame their performance on the amount of injuries they have suffered in the first half of the year as they try to get healthy and turn things around, that seems unlikely with the midway point of the season passing. Because of that, the Orioles would be wise to move some of the veterans on expiring contracts to help replenish their farm system. Jim Bowden of The Athletic (subscription required) recently polled MLB executives who believe that Zach Eflin of the Orioles will be dealt at the trade deadline.
