4/20/25 MLB star divides opinion with VERY bold sparkly footwear. Tampa Bay Rays star Yandy Diaz has gone viral over his bold choice of footwear during Friday's loss to the Yankees. Cameras caught the Cuban-born Diaz wearing rare crystal-covered Adidas cleats worth nearly $500. The Swarovski x Adidas Adizero Impact+ were launched last September and only 44 pairs were released. Forty-four is also the number worn by Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez, who helped launch the cleats last year after signing a deal with the sports giants.

4/14/25 Rays have a 'kind of perfect' night at the plate in bashing Red Sox. The Rays did with the first pitch they saw Monday, Yandy Diaz swatting it over the centerfield fence. “That,” manager Kevin Cash said, “was a really complete day offensively, obviously.” There were individual highlights, such as Diaz becoming the first Ray to hit leadoff homers in back-to-back games, Junior Caminero homering for a third straight game, rookie Kameron Misner going deep twice, Jonathan Aranda and Christoper Morel both having two hits in the same inning.

4/01/25 Pirates Rookie Struggles in MLB Debut. Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Thomas Harrington made his MLB debut against the Tampa Bay Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Fla. and struggled throughout. Harrington got into trouble early in the first inning, allowing a single to Rays designated hitter Yandy Diaz and walking second baseman Brandon Lowe.

3/21/25 If playing DH keeps Yandy Diaz on the field, the Rays are all for it. PORT CHARLOTTE — The glove is fine. Nothing wrong there. And the range may not be great but, let’s be honest, there are worse first basemen. So why, exactly, are the Rays nudging Yandy Diaz toward designated hitter? Blame the calendar. Or, more precisely, the accumulation of years. He may be built like a bouncer but Diaz will turn 34 later this summer, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the ...

3/14/25 Rays pick up 2026 option on former batting champion Yandy Diaz. The Tampa Bay Rays exercised their $12 million team option on first baseman Yandy Diaz for the 2026 season. The Rays also added a vesting option for the 2027 season that would pay Diaz $13 million if he makes at least 500 plate appearances in 2026 and $10 million if he doesn't reach that amount. Diaz, 33, won the American League batting title in 2023 when he made his lone All-Star appearance and finished sixth in AL MVP voting. He batted .330 with additional career highs of 22 homers and 78 RBIs in 137 games. His performance dropped last season as he batted .281 with 14 homers and 65 RBIs in 145 games. Diaz will make $10 million in 2025. Diaz is entering his seventh season with Tampa Bay after

1/31/25 Source: Mets Have Checked in on Rays First Baseman Yandy Diaz. Another first base option has entered the chat for the New York Mets. The Mets have checked in on Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz, as sources told Mets On SI. This also isn't the first conversation the Mets have had with Tampa this offseason regarding Diaz, who would be an impactful acquisition via trade. Diaz is set to make $10 million in 2025, which is the final guaranteed year of his deal.

1/03/25 MLB Insider Says Tampa Bay Rays Not Looking to Trade Yandy Diaz or Brandon Lowe. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Tampa Bay Rays aren't necessarily looking to trade either of Yandy Diaz or Brandon Lowe, both who have come up in trade rumors this offseason. Speaking on Thursday's edition of the "Fair Territory" podcast, Rosenthal said he expects the Rays to be very competitive in 2025 and he doesn't think they have the motivation to just dump salary on two of their better offensive pieces. Rosenthal acknowledged that if a move presents itself that makes the Rays better in both the short and the long term, they could move either player, but it doesn't sound like it's something they really want to do. The 33-year-old Diaz is heading into the final year of his contract but there is a team option for 2026.

12/29/24 Tampa Bay Rays Have Reportedly Been Interested in Seattle Mariners Prospect Harry Ford. According to a recent article from Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, the Tampa Bay Rays have had interest before in Seattle Mariners top prospect Harry Ford. Now, there's no reason to believe that there are trade talks currently happening between the two teams, but this is noteworthy given that the Rays and Mariners are frequent trade partners. Given Seattle's need for talent and shoestring budget this offseason, it also wouldn't be surprising to see the sides re-engage around a conversation for first baseman Yandy Diaz or second baseman Brandon Lowe.

12/16/24 Proposed Red Sox trade could land All-Star Silver Slugger in Boston for two-years, $22 million. The Boston Red Sox are looking for a righty slugger to try and help balance out their lefty-dominated lineup. An interesting pick came up in a trade proposal, for Tampa Bay Rays' Yandy Diaz. According to Jim Bowden, the Yankees were interested in Diaz at the trade deadline, and still are. In return, the Rays only wanted a couple prospects.

11/19/24 MLB rumors: Potential Rays trade candidate gets big prediction. The 2024 MLB offseason is just beginning, but once the wheels are set in motion, don't be surprised if the Tampa Bay Rays trade Yandy Diaz. Jon Morosi talked about where the first base trade candidate could end up in an appearance on MLB Network on Tuesday, and he suggested that Diaz will have his fair share of suitors. “I could see Yandy Diaz being dealt this offseason,” he said, adding that Diaz has one skill that most teams covet. Diaz struck out in only 15.3% of his at bats in 2024, which is on par with his career average (15%).

11/18/24 Dodgers listed among possible landing spots for pair of Rays sluggers. The Los Angeles Dodgers are once again expected to be one of the most active teams in the offseason. The defending World Series champions could look at using the trade and free agent markets to improve their club. Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller suggested that Los Angeles could target both Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe in a possible trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. "Unloading Lowe ($10.5M in 2025 with an $11.5M club option or $500k buyout for 2026) and/or Díaz ($10M in 2025 with a $12M club option or no buyout for 2026) isn't quite the sure thing for Tampa Bay that it was last year with Tyler Glasnow's $25M salary, but you just know the Rays are at least asking other teams if there's any interest in their highest-priced assets," Miller wrote.

9/30/24 Rays in review: 10 numbers that help sum up a turbulent season. The Rays’ season started with a bang. Coming off a 99-win performance in 2023, returning the bulk of the lineup that produced record-smashing numbers and with a solid pitching staff in place and better arms coming back from injury during the season, the Rays were optimistic for good reason. And when Yandy Diaz homered to lead off the first inning on opening day, that seemed a promising start ...

Jonny DeLuca also had three hits and Logan Driscoll had an RBI single in the seventh inning. Ryan Pepiot (8-6) allowed only one run over 5 1/3 innings despite allowing nine baserunners. 8/22/24 Rays stars separated in dugout after screaming match vs A's. The Tampa Bay Rays are not having a great season, and perhaps the frustrations of not being in postseason position are getting to the players a bit as tempers flared in the dugout on Wednesday night. Yandy Diaz and Jose Caballero, two of the remaining stars in Tampa Bay after a massive overhaul at the MLB trade deadline, were spotted screaming at each other to the point where they needed to be separated in the dugout during the team's game against the Oakland Athletics on the road. The Rays may have won the game, 4-2, but Diaz and Caballero continued to jaw at each other, while their teammates were pushing them farther apart in the dugout.

8/22/24 Rays' Kevin Cash speaks out on dugout altercation during game vs. Athletics. The Tampa Bay Rays picked up a 4-2 win over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, but it did not come without conflict, as Yandy Diaz and Jose Caballero were seen getting into an altercation during the game, and manager Kevin Cash calmed the concerns after the game. It is a positive for the Rays that the issue is not seen as a lingering one, and that Yandy Diaz and Jose Caballero can move on.
