11/20/25 Braves re-sign veteran closer Raisel Iglesias to $16 million, 1-year deal. The Atlanta Braves have addressed one of their offseason priorities by re-signing closer Raisel Iglesias to a $16 million, one-year contract. The Braves announced the deal. The 35-year-old right-hander had completed a $58 million, four-year contract that paid him $16 million in each of the last three seasons. The Braves also acquired Mauricio Dubón from the Houston Astros for Nick Allen in an exchange of infielders. Iglesias had 29 saves in 34 chances in 2025, finishing strong after an uneven start. Iglesias posted a 4.42 ERA in 39 games in the first half before a dominant finish. He recorded a 1.76 ERA in the second half and was successful on his final 18 save opportunities after July 28.

9/03/25 Raisel Iglesias named NL Reliever of the Month for August. Yes, good things are allowed to happen around here, sometimes.

8/26/25 Braves $58M Waiver Candidate Could Be Ideal Last-Minute Royals Pickup. Are the Kansas City Royals done adding to their roster for their last-ditch playoff push? Entering play on Tuesday, the Royals' record sits at 67-65, four games back of the Seattle Mariners for a wild card spot in the American League. Could one more bullpen arm give the Royals a slightly better chance at pulling off the comeback? On Monday, David Lesky of Inside the Crown discussed the possibility that the Royals could pick up Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias on waivers before the Sunday deadline.

8/12/25 Braves Should Re-Sign Iglesias...Under Right Conditions. Ever since Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker temporarily moved Raisel Iglesias from the closer role, he's been pitching well. This stretch puts him on par with his performance from last season. The early season struggles cost the Braves both games in the win column and value at the trade deadline to flip Iglesias elsewhere. Not too long ago, this would be the chance for the Braves to wipe their hands clean and have this salary off the books.

7/29/25 MLB Mock Trade: Atlanta Braves Deal Raisel Iglesias To Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Cubs are currently competing for both the NL Central and the best record in baseball with the Milwaukee Brewers. From what we are hearing out of Chicago, they are going all in at the July 31 MLB Trade Deadline, and no prospect will be made untouchable. One of the areas they could stand to improve is their bullpen, and a name that has been swirling around the rumor mill that the Cubs could target is Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias. Bringing in a reliever who can close games with playoff experience at the deadline could make a big difference for Chicago as they prepare for what they hope is a deep playoff run.

7/27/25 Cubs Considering Putting Together Trade Package for Atlanta Braves Star. The Chicago Cubs are expected to be busy ahead of the trade deadline. After a magical first half of the season where they looked like one of the premier teams in Major League Baseball, they have come back down to earth a bit and are in a fight for supremacy in the NL Central. Starting pitching and bullpen arms seem to be where most of the focus will be by the front office, and according to The Athletic (subscription required), the Cubs have a specific player in mind when it comes to a reliever target. "Raisel Iglesias is not having his finest season with the Atlanta Braves, but he is one of several options under consideration, due to his long history of success, as well as his reputation for being a positive clubhouse presence," reported Sahadev Sharma and Patrick Mooney.

7/07/25 Dodgers-Braves blockbuster trade proposal brings $58 million star to LA. The Los Angeles Dodgers will assuredly be on the prowl for bullpen help at this year's trade deadline. The sellers are still sorting themselves up, but the Dodgers might jump at the opportunity to pilfer a reliever from a team that's been one of their chief playoff rivals in years past: the Atlanta Braves. Braves closer Raisel Iglesias has been pretty subpar this year too, fitting in with the Dodgers' theme. In a Monday article, Zach Pressnell of FanSided suggested that Iglesias could be a good fit for the Dodgers in a possible deadline blockbuster.

6/18/25 Is Braves Reliever Raisel Iglesias Returning to Form?. One player the Braves need to do that is relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias. The right-hander experienced an historic 2024 season, but this year, Iglesias owns a 6.00 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 28 appearances. Over his last three outings, though, Iglesias has been nine up and nine down. On Tuesday versus the New York Mets, he retired three consecutive batters with a runner on second base in the 10th inning.

6/17/25 Braves Encouraged to 'Bench' $58 Million Asset. Right-handed relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias could be on his way back. The Atlanta Braves former closer has pitched two scoreless frames since losing his ninth-inning role with the team following a blown save on June 5. Instead, Miller argued the Braves should "bench" the reliever. On Tuesday, Miller included Iglesias on a list of eight MLB players that "should be benched."

6/14/25 Braves Raisel Iglesias Looking Like Old Self in New Role. Raisel Iglesias' last two outings for the Atlanta Braves have delivered results we were more accustomed to getting from him. Friday's appearance saw him pitch another scoreless inning, striking out a batter and allowing a base hit. A key difference between these two innings pitched compared to his previous 23 calls from the bullpen is that they came in the eighth inning. Iglesias had been the Braves closer for more than two seasons before being pulled from the role earlier this month.

6/13/25 Braves could field trade calls on veteran pitcher despite 6.48 ERA, per insider. As the Atlanta Braves try to recover from their massive slide, it's only natural that teams will start inquiring about trades. The Braves don't want to sell, but they might have no other choice. It's not as though Atlanta would conduct some sort of roster teardown, but they've got some veterans on expiring contracts who would be of interest to any contending teams. One of those veterans, closer Raisel Iglesias, has had a dismal season to this point, which is disappointing on many levels.

6/10/25 Braves Facing Raisel Iglesias Decision After Craig Kimbrel Debacle. The Atlanta Braves are slumping, Raisel Iglesias is faltering, and the clock is ticking. Is Atlanta headed for a 2026 reset instead of a 2025 postseason push?

6/06/25 Diamondbacks' wild comeback vs. Braves draws Torey Lovullo truth bomb. It hasn't been a week full of good news for the Arizona Diamondbacks. But that didn't take away from their stunning comeback against the Braves. Arizona's Eugenio Suárez hit a go-ahead, two-run double off Raisel Iglesias to cap a seven-run ninth inning rally. The stunning turnaround gave the Diamondbacks an 11-10 win Thursday, capping a sweep of the three-game series.

6/05/25 Braves blow six-run ninth-inning lead to Diamondbacks in historic loss. Eugenio Suárez hit a go-ahead, two-run double off Raisel Iglesias to cap a seven-run ninth inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks stunned the Atlanta Braves 11-10.

5/30/25 Braves could land Orioles' All-Star flamethrower in trade deadline blockbuster. The Atlanta Braves have plenty of people to blame for their 26-29 start, and their bullpen has a handful of culprits. Closer Raisel Iglesias hasn't pitched well at all, which is unfortunate given that he'll be a free agent this winter. On the whole, Atlanta's bullpen has -0.2 fWAR, which is the third-worst mark of any team in Major League Baseball. Clearly, the Braves will need Iglesias (5.91 ERA) to step up.

5/26/25 Braves-Athletics trade pitch sends All-Star flamethrower to Atlanta. As the Atlanta Braves look to re-establish themselves as contenders, the bullpen appears to be a major question mark. All-Star closer Raisel Iglesias has dropped off significantly since 2024, and he hasn't had many reliable firemen in front of him. Braves relievers are 10-for-20 in save opportunities; only the Chicago White Sox have converted a lower percentage. The Braves will undoubtedly have relief pitching on their trade deadline shopping list.
