7/01/25 Guardians Make New Roster Moves Ahead of Series Opener vs. Cubs. The Cleveland Guardians made a couple of new roster moves on Monday ahead of their series opener against the Chicago Cubs. Here's a look at the moves Cleveland's front office made. Gabriel Arias had to be carted off the field on Sunday afternoon after awkwardly rolling over his ankle in Cleveland's series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. Thankfully, his X-rays came back negative, but Cleveland's starting shortstop was still diagnosed with an ankle sprain and has been placed on the 15-day injured list.

6/28/25 This Cleveland Guardians Prospect Could Be Next To Get MLB Call-Up. As the Cleveland Guardians' offensive struggles continue, much attention has shifted to their Triple-A team to identify potential upgrades. Understandably, Chase DeLauter and CJ Kayfus, who have each been on a tear, have been the primary topics of discussion. Brito was in serious contention to crack the MLB roster out of spring training, but Gabriel Arias' hot start and a hope that Brayan Rocchio would build off his strong playoff showing meant Cleveland's eighth-ranked prospect had to wait.

6/19/25 Despite quiet bats, Guardians in position to sweep Giants. The Cleveland Guardians will look to complete their first three-game sweep since April when they wrap up an interleague series against the host San Francisco Giants on Thursday afternoon. The Guardians have made the most of 13 total hits in the first two games of the set, getting a key home run from Gabriel Arias in a 3-2 win in the opener and a three-run shot from Daniel Schneemann during a 4-2 triumph in the rematch. The wins improved the Guardians to just 12-14 in interleague play. Three of those victories came April 18-20 at Pittsburgh in the club's most recent three-game sweep.

6/18/25 Gabriel Arias unleashes hidden power with a game-winning blast for Guardians at Oracle Park. In the Guardians' 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, Gabriel Arias stepped into the batter's box hitless in his previous 12 plate appearances. Moments later, he deposited a Robbie Ray offering over Oracle Park's notoriously unforgiving right-center field wall, delivering a go-ahead homer that left Cleveland Baseball Talk Podcast hosts Joe Noga and Paul Hoynes marveling at both its timing and execution. “The place that he hit the go-ahead home run is not a place in that ballpark where a lot of right handed hitters can show power and get the ball over the wall,” Noga observed during the podcast.

6/03/25 Hole in Gabriel Arias' glove doesn't stay there long: Guardians takeaways. Gabriel Arias is recognized for his strong arm and solid defense, especially when he's playing shortstop for the Guardians. In Sunday's 4-2 win over the Angels, however, Arias literally played with a hole in his glove. Well, that's exactly what happened to Arias in the seventh inning with two out. Catcher Logan O'Hoppe lined a 3-2 pitch from Gavin Williams directly at Arias.

5/27/25 Time for Guardians to Admit the Obvious About Struggling Slugger. Going into the 2025 MLB season, the Cleveland Guardians did not have a definitive answer at second base. The Guardians were instead forced to roll with in-house options, and they decided to give Gabriel Arias another opportunity to prove himself. Early on the, decision seemed to be paying dividends, as Arias enjoyed a tremendous first three weeks of the regular season as his OPS floated in the .800s and he smashed four home runs during that span. Since then, however, Arias has spiraled.

5/14/25 Cleveland Guardians Patience Paying Off With Breakout Slugger. Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias has been one of those players who has taken a little bit of time for him to find consistency at the big league level, but he finally is. Arias was one of the San Diego Padres' top-10 prospects when they sent him to Cleveland during the 2020 trade deadline. At the time, the middle infielder was viewed as a solid defensive player with the potential to be an above-average impact bat.

5/01/25 Guardians Skipper Has Seen Critical Change In Surprise Slugger. The Cleveland Guardians were literally out of options with Gabriel Arias coming into the season. Arias had to make the big league roster in some capacity coming out of spring training, or his future with the organization would have been unknown, as he's out of minor league options. Arias not only won the job to get the bulk of the playing time at second base following the Andres Gimenez trade, but the 25-year-old has looked like a new player and become one of Cleveland's best surprises to start the season. The right-handed hitter has made some noticeable changes to his batting stance, but Cleveland's skipper has also seen one critical change in Arias's mindset.

Stephen Vogt said after the game, Arias was feeling "some left hip irritation."

4/17/25 How patience and persistence are finally paying off for one Guardians Infielder. After nearly three years of waiting, hoping, and yes – hand-wringing – Gabriel Arias might finally be transforming into the everyday player the Cleveland Guardians believe he could become. As the hosts of the Cleveland Baseball Talk Podcast pointed out, he has hit home runs in three of his last five games, and his latest blast came against Baltimore's Dean Kramer, a solo shot to center field that represented Cleveland's only run in their 9-1 loss to the Orioles. It's not just the recent power surge that has the Guardians excited. Arias has shown a newfound comfort level at the plate, drawing walks and making consistent hard contact.
