Taijuan Walker threw 86 pitches in just three innings, allowing a pair of runs on six hits. Relievers Tanner Banks and Carlos Hernandez gave up two more runs. The Phillies

1/26/25 Rea preps for hybrid role in Chicago. Colin Rea prefers to start, and he doesn't necessarily mind coming out of the bullpen. In six Major League Baseball seasons, Rea has made 76 starts and come out of the bullpen 18 times while posting a 26-20 record, 4.57 ERA and 366 strikeouts in 446 2/3 innings.

The Kansas City Royals need to find a way to bolster their bullpen, as it was one of a few areas of the club that held them back in 2025. 11/05/24 MLB rumors: The eye-opening reason why Colin Rea went unclaimed after Brewers release. The Milwaukee Brewers have begun their yearly tradition of cutting costs, and on Monday, the Brewers ended up declining the $5.5 million player option on Colin Rea's contract, therefore making him a free agent. Rea has been a reliable source of innings over the past two seasons for the Brewers. The veteran pitcher managed to throw 292.1 innings during that span, which is certainly of value for any MLB team — but perhaps not just for $5.5 million. One of Rea's weak points as a pitcher is that his stuff doesn't rate highly in teams' metrics.
