9/09/25 Mets' trade-deadline pickup stuck in 0-for-26 spiral. When the Mets acquired Cedric Mullins at the trade deadline, they thought they were getting an upgrade at center field. After his 0-for-2 effort in Monday's 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, Mullins is not 0 for his last 26. With center fielder Jose Siri (left tibia fracture) “getting close” to return, according to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, could Mullins be feeling some pressure to perform?

8/21/25 Ex-Orioles outfielder calls attention to team's lack of leadership. On July 31, the Baltimore Orioles traded veteran centerfielder Cedric Mullins to the New York Mets in exchange for right-handed pitching prospects Raimon Gomez, Anthony Nunez, and Chandler Marsh. The Orioles were clearly going to be sellers at the deadline, and Mullins seemed like a piece they were most willing to part ways with because he's set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season ends.

8/11/25 Baltimore Orioles called a trade fit for Pirates starter. The 2025 MLB trade deadline has now come and gone, and the Baltimore Orioles' disappointing season turned them into sellers. As a result, players like Cedric Mullins, Ryan O'Hearn, Ramón Laureano, Ramón Urías, and Andrew Kittredge were dealt to clubs who are still hoping to contend for a World Series this season. The Orioles are in a unique position when compared to other teams who sold at the deadline, most of whom have mediocre rosters and are a few years away (at best) from competing for a playoff position.

The Mets upgraded at center field by acquiring Cedric Mullins from Baltimore at the trade deadline, but that came after taking a bigger shot that didn't work out. 8/01/25 Mets were reportedly in on this starting pitcher ahead of deadline. The New York Mets were able to cross off several items on their to-do list ahead of MLB's trade deadline. In need of some outfield help in their lineup, the team acquired center fielder Cedric Mullins from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for three relief pitching prospects, only one of whom was ranked inside the organization's top 30. On the mound, the Mets took advantage of other teams seeking out controllable relief pitchers by trading for bullpen arms who are on expiring deals (Gregory Soto, Tyler Rogers, and Ryan Helsley).

8/01/25 What not acquiring a starting pitcher means for the Mets, per insider. The MLB trade deadline is officially in the books, and the New York Mets strung together several key acquisitions. From adding three highly touted bullpen arms, with the capper being trading for center fielder Cedric Mullins from the Baltimore Orioles, New York seems poised to capture its division crown in 10 years and go on another playoff run. SNY's baseball insider Andy Martino reported on Thursday that with the Amazins' not adding a starter during the deadline, he's expecting the ballclub to possibly call up one of their pitching prospects, with Nolan McLean being a name to look out for. McLean, who is currently ranked as the Mets' No. 3 prospect according to MLB.com, has had a great first season pitching at the Triple-A level.
