Veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks is now a late-season free agent after “mutually agreeing” to part ways with the New Orleans Saints, per beat writer Nick Underhill. If you scroll social media, there hasn't been a lot of positive projections for the Saints overall. New Orleans had a tough 2024 season and there are a lot of people out there projecting a similarly rough 2025 season. The Saints have a good chunk of the veterans back plus some more firepower, like Justin Reid and Brandin Cooks.

8/14/25 What I Saw At Rams-Saints Joint Practice. It was a homecoming for several individuals as the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints engaged in a joint practice on the fields outside Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Brandon Staley, former Rams defensive coordinator, and Brandin Cooks, former Rams wide receiver, were among several former Rams currently working for the Saints, and their inside knowledge proved useful.

7/24/25 We've just had the first fight of New Orleans Saints training camp. It wasn't Trevor Penning throwing punches in the first fight of Saints training camp. Brandin Cooks took a swing at Alontate Taylor on Thursday.

7/22/25 First Take Fooled By Fake George Pickens and Cowboys Propaganda. First off, doubling up on Cowboys topics in July after the team went 7-10 last year, and will probably finish third in the division again, is insane. Secondly, the problem with the clip that fooled ESPN is that it's from the account FergSZN and it's actually a pass to Brandin Cooks during training camp from 2023.

5/25/25 Saints Star Sends Important Message To New Orleans Fans. There was a time in which Brandin Cooks was one of the top young receivers in football. Cooks spent the first three years of his career in New Orleans before being traded to the New England Patriots ahead of the 2017 season. Cooks had 530 yards as a rookie and then followed it up by racking up over 1,100 yards in his second and third seasons before the trade. Cooks has bounced around the league since, although he has been a dependable pass-catcher the entire time.

5/20/25 Saints Primed To Make Run At 5-Time Pro Bowler. The New Orleans Saints have a sneaky talented roster right now. The Saints minimized turnover and added some more pieces, including Brandin Cooks and Justin Reid, New Orleans also brought Kellen Moore to town to be the team's head coach. The cornerback position is still very much up in the air. Clearly, New Orleans at least has some interest in the position as it recently met with Asante Samuel Jr. in free agency.

5/15/25 Saints 'Crazy Idea' Would Bring Polarizing Star Back. The New Orleans Saints have already added two veteran receivers into the mix this offseason. The wide receiver room has had some question marks throughout the offseason to this point and the team has responded by signing Brandin Cooks and Donovan Peoples-Jones. Cooks signed earlier in the offseason before the National Football League Draft and Peoples-Jones was in a try out after it during minicamp. New Orleans' receiver room has some talent with these two guys plus Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Cedrick Wilson Jr. among others.

5/07/25 Saints Writer Shares Harsh Criticism Of Newly Signed Wide Receiver. The New Orleans Saints seem to be in a lot of trouble this season, but they've made a few moves that should make the fans happy. One of those moves was the decision to bring back veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks on a two-year deal. Cooks began his career with the Saints, spending three years with the team and recording nearly 3,000 receiving yards, but he's about a decade older now, so the expectations won't be the same. FanSided's Lior Lampert recently shared low expectations and harsh criticism of the veteran wide receiver.

4/19/25 NFL Insider Thinks Star Receiver Is Going To Saints. Will the New Orleans Saints use the No. 9 pick in the upcoming National Football League Draft to add a playmaker? Much has been made about the quarterback position, but the Saints likely could get a signal-caller in the second round, the trade market, or maybe even free agency. For example, the Saints still could use another wide receiver despite their signing of Brandin Cooks. In response, The Athletic's NFL Draft expert Dane Brugler predicted that the Saints will select Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan at No. 9.

4/15/25 NFL Expert Has Big Solution For Saints Issue. The New Orleans Saints have a lot going on right now. Obviously, the team's quarterback situation is a mess right now and that has led to the most headlines, but that's not all. The Saints have done a good job throughout the offseason so far adding guys like Justin Reid and Brandin Cooks while retaining key pieces like Chase Young and Juwan Johnson. It's been a busy offseason and now there's obviously a hole at quarterback with Derek Carr dealing with an injured shoulder.

4/13/25 Saints Named Fit For 5-Time Pro Bowl Playmaker. The New Orleans Saints' biggest question mark right now is the quarterback position. The Saints already have added one receiver this offseason in Brandin Cooks but the position is still thin. There was some buzz about possibly taking Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan with the No. 9 pick in the NFL Draft, but with the quarterback position in flux it could make more sense to use the pick for a new signal-caller depending on who is available. If the Saints don't add a young receiver, it wouldn't hurt to go back to free agency.
