TE Nick Vannett and WR Bryce Oliver were aligned in a TE-wing position on the right side. Predictably, the ball bounced away as Texans DE Derek Barnett hit the Titans WR. Barnett noticed that the ball was loose and no one was anywhere close to him.

8/24/22 Nick Vannett suggested as a surprise cut or trade candidate for Saints. Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed put together a list of eight players who could be surprise roster cuts or trade options in speaking with his sources around the league, and one New Orleans Saints veteran came up in those conversations: tight end Nick Vannett. The Saints have some younger players they like better, and Taysom Hill’s shift in focus from quarterback to tight end makes it tough for Vannett to get through the numbers game at the position.

6/17/22 Saints Alontae Taylor Should Make an Impact Despite a Crowded Defensive Backfield. Much has been made about the affinity that the New Orleans Saints have with Ohio State players. In their 56-year draft history, the Saints have selected 17 players from Ohio State, with 10 of those coming in the last 20 years. Other former Buckeyes like WR Ted Ginn Jr. CB Eli Apple, S Kurt Coleman, TE Nick Vannett have been with the team as free-agent signings, with mixed results.

3/07/22 What's the buzz surrounding the Saints after the NFL combine? Here's what we think. New Orleans will likely be more active in free agency than it was a year ago, when its top free agent acquisitions were Tanoh Kpassagnon and Nick Vannett, but the Saints will probably wait out the first wave of free agency and go after the mid-tier players with team-friendly proposals. That principle also applies to the Saints’ own high-level free agents, offensive tackle Terron Armstead and safety Marcus Williams.
