CINCINNATI — CBS Sports writer Bryan DeArdo graded each AFC North team's offseason recently and stuck the Bengals with a "B" grade after an offseason of retainment. Cincinnati inked new deals with Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase, while still efforting to extend Trey Hendrickson . "The Bengals got some much-needed wins by locking up Chase and Higgins, and the cherry on top was the re-signing of Gesicki, a favorite of quarterback Joe Burrow," DeArdo wrote . "Cincinnati still needs to come to the negotiating table with Hendrickson, who recently went public with his displeasure with how things have gone so far regarding contract talks. "With Hendrickson's future in the air (he's signed through the

4/24/25 Bengals Stay Defense Heavy in Major Seven-Round Mock Draft. Williams is ranked 14th on the consensus big board and third among edge rushers. "With Tee Higgins' and Ja'Marr Chase's extensions taking center stage, the Cincinnati Bengals now need to prioritize defense," Infante wrote . "If they trade Trey Hendrickson, adding an edge rusher becomes a big priority. Mykel Williams has an ideal frame with great length and strength. He's still refining his technique, but his athleticism and power already make him a dangerous pass rusher." Next, Cincinnati took

4/02/25 NFL Executive States Bengals 'Should Have' Traded Tee Higgins Instead of Inking New Deal. NFL executives gave their thoughts on the Bengals offseason moves to The Athletic's Mike Sando this week. The big topic to start was Cincinnati paying both Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase new deals. One executive thinks they should've paid Trey Hendrickson a new deal and traded Higgins on the franchise tag. Cincinnati signed Higgins to a four-year, $115 million deal, while Chase inked a four-year extension worth $161 million.

3/28/25 Major Outlet Picks Bengals Star as Team's Most Overpaid Player. CINCINNATI — Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon released his list of most overpaid players on each NFL team this week and Tee Higgins was his pick for the Bengals . Higgins just signed a four-year, $115 million deal with the team this month. "I wrote in this spot last year that the $21.8 million franchise-tag rate is silly for a player who has never gone over 75 catches, 1,100 yards, or seven touchdowns in four non-Pro Bowl campaigns," Gagnon wrote . "He did score 10 touchdowns in 2024, but the rest remains true for a player now making $28.8 million per season." It's a wild take on a talent who has consistently helped unlock Cincinnati's elite offense under Joe Burrow. Higgins hasn't hit those higher-volume

3/25/25 Major Outlet Names Bengals Among Five NFL Teams With Most Work To Do Before NFL Draft. Cincinnati has arguably not improved its 2024 roster in free agency as of this writing. It prompted Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano to name them fourth among teams with the most work to do ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Cincinnati has signed one projected starting-caliber exterior free agent: T.J. Slaton. "The Bengals deserve a ton of credit for re-signing wide receivers Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase, but that just kept their elite offense intact and did nothing for their poor defense," Manzano wrote.

3/15/25 Patriots' Tee Higgins Dream May Officially Be Dead. Throughout the entire 2024 NFL season, we heard that the New England Patriots would heavily pursue wide receiver Tee Higgins on the free agent market. Well, the Cincinnati Bengals prevented that from occurring, slapping a franchise tag on Higgins earlier this month. Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media have reported that Cincinnati has made "significant progress" on contract extensions with both Ja'Marr Chase and Higgins, further increasing the likelihood that Higgins will be with the Bengals for the long haul.

3/15/25 Reported Tee Higgins Update Spells Bad News For Patriots' Hopes. The Patriots had a tiny sliver of hope that the Bengals would trade Tee Higgins, but a new report squashed those dreams. Cincinnati used the franchise tag on Higgins, who wants to sign a long-term extension. It also needs to extend Ja'Marr Chase, so the financial constraints theoretically could have forced the Bengals to choose between one of the wide receivers. There was some speculation that a “tag and trade” deal could have been executed for New England to acquire Higgins.
