9/08/25 Guardians pitcher Slade Cecconi has no-hit bid ended by leadoff single in 8th, Guardians lead 10-0. Kansas City’s Michael Massey singled leading off the eighth to break up a no-hit bid by Guardians pitcher Slade Cecconi, who was bidding to throw the majors’ first no-hitter this season and Cleveland’s first since 1981. Making his career-high 20th start and first against Kansas City, Cecconi flirted with history until the eighth when Massey lined a 2-1 fastball into left-center on the right-hander’s 95th pitch. Cleveland is leading 10-0.

8/29/25 Michael Massey looks comfortable in the outfield. Should the Royals have started Michael Massey in the outfield to start the season instead of Jonathan India?

8/25/25 Royals' Massey returns to lineup after lengthy stint on injured list. Kansas City Royals second baseman and outfielder Michael Massey is back in the lineup Monday night after a lengthy stint on the injured list. Massey, who last played in the MLB on June 7, rejoins the Royals after rehabbing an ankle injury that placed him on the injured list in mid-June. The 27-year-old from Palos Park, Illinois, who opened the season playing second base for the Royals is in Kansas City's lineup Monday night for their series-opener against the Chicago White Sox.

5/28/25 Royals Could Nab $24 Million Rays All-Star In Trade Deadline Blockbuster. As the Kansas City Royals' offense continues to flounder, any sign of a potential upgrade via trade is a welcome one. Michael Massey, who was an above-average starter last season, has been absolutely dismal, putting up a .489 OPS in 50 games. The Royals might believe Massey will come around, but he's killing them right now. In their search for offensive upgrades, if the Royals stumble on a second baseman who can offer a clear improvement over Massey, they may have to take the opportunity.

5/20/25 Kris Bubic loses no-hit bid for Royals on official scoring change but enjoys fantastic homecoming. Kris Bubic’s no-hit bid for the Kansas City Royals ended with an official scoring change. The left-hander hardly let that bother him. Bubic made a run at an historic homecoming before settling for seven shutout innings of two-hit ball in a 3-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Bubic, who grew up rooting for the Giants and went to high school in San Jose, initially got through six innings without allowing a hit. But an error charged to Royals second baseman Michael Massey in the sixth was changed to a single before the start of the seventh.

5/20/25 Kris Bubic loses no-hit bid for Royals on official scoring change. Kris Bubic’s no-hit bid for the Kansas City Royals has ended with an official scoring change. Bubic initially got through six innings against the San Francisco Giants without allowing a hit — only to have an error charged to Royals second baseman Michael Massey changed to a single before the start of the seventh. With two outs in the sixth, Wilmer Flores hit a grounder toward second base. Massey got in position to make the play but slipped to the ground at the edge of the grass as the ball rolled past him into the outfield. The play was initially ruled an error by official scorer Michael Duca, but moments later he changed his call. In the seventh, Bubic gave up a one-out double to Casey Schmitt.

5/14/25 Versatile Royals vie for series victory versus Astros. The defensive play of the series opener on Monday undoubtedly came in the third inning when Kansas City Royals second baseman Michael Massey smothered an Isaac Paredes grounder before executing a backhanded flip to shortstop Maikel Garcia to start an inning-ending double play. On Tuesday, Jonathan India and Bobby Witt Jr. were manning second and shortstop, respectively. The Royals' defensive versatility was on display in the first two contests of this three-game set, which Houston evened with a 2-1 victory Tuesday. The teams will meet in the rubber match on Wednesday night.

5/13/25 Royals’ Michael Massey turned ‘unbelievable’ double play. This part was ‘underrated’. “Sometimes it works out and you look smart. Other times it doesn’t work out and you look dumb.”

4/25/25 Royals 'Must Consider' Lineup Demotion For Slumping 27-Year-Old, Writer Claims. The Kansas City Royals' offensive struggles have been so wide-reaching, it's hard to know who to hold accountable. It's hard to stand out on a stat sheet full of slumpers, but second baseman Michael Massey has been particularly to begin the season. On Friday, Oliver Vandervoort of FanSided asserted that the Royals "must consider" relegating Massey to the bench, perhaps putting Jonathan India back at his natural second base position rather than switching him between left field and third base.

4/15/25 Yankees phenom passes latest test — but there's more room to grow. With one catch, Jasson Domínguez silenced the many questions about his defensive capabilities that loomed over him entering this season. Effortlessly launching himself in the air and contorting his body, Domínguez nabbed a hard hit ball off the bat of Royals' Michael Massey in the top of the fourth inning of the Yankees' eventual 4-1 win over Kansas City. It was the type of play that would typically give Domínguez trouble — and it wouldn't be the last that he handled masterfully Monday night. It was a busy evening for Domínguez, who recorded the most put outs in one game in his major-league career.

1/03/25 Yankees Surprise Trade Idea Would Send Royals Starter With 105 OPS+ To Bronx. The Kansas City Royals haven't been all that busy as of late, but will they soon begin fielding trade calls? Michael Massey has developed into a solid role player for the Royals, and he's cost-controlled, which helps a ton with the budget.

10/06/24 Even with up to 24 cameras, MLB didn't have clear enough angle to reverse Chisholm steal. Even with up to 24 video cameras, Major League Baseball didn't have a precise picture showing whether Michael Massey's glove slapped Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s left foot before it touched the corner of second base. Lance Barrett's initial safe call stood awarding the stolen base, and Alex Verdugo followed with a run-scoring single that gave the New York Yankees the lead for good in a 6-5 win over the Kansas City Royals in their AL Division Series opener on Saturday night. “They just said there was nothing clear and convincing to overturn it, and if he had been called out, that call would have stood, too,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Sunday.
