8/28/25 | Angels Announcer Takes Wild Shot at Cowboys During Rangers Game. Los Angeles Angels play-by-play announcer Wayne Randazzo took a shot at the NFL's Dallas Cowboys during the Halos' blowout loss against the Texas Rangers on Thursday. A Josh Jung single in the bottom of the seventh inning brought the score to 17-3, which caused a reaction out of Randazzo. “Well, they'll have to enjoy a 17-3 around here, because I don't know how many they're gonna get with the Dallas Cowboys," he said. The Cowboys are coming off of a brutal losing season in 2024, where they went 7-10 and missed the playoffs after finishing first in their division in two of the previous three seasons. 8/26/25 | Rangers Young Former All-Star Struggling To Replicate That Level of Success. Coming into the 2025 MLB regular season, the Texas Rangers were thought to have arguably the best lineup in baseball. One of the players whom people were most excited about was third baseman Josh Jung. A first-round pick in the 2019 MLB draft, he made his way through the minor league system quickly. 8/20/25 | Rangers-Royals Game Today (8/20/25): Preview, How to Watch & Live Stream. The Texas Rangers are clinging to whatever hope they can to get back into the American League Wild Card playoff race as they face the Kansas City Royals. The Rangers and Royals are both fighting for position, but the Rangers don't appear to be playing with a full deck. Along with the injuries in their lineup, Texas did not play third baseman Josh Jung in either of the first two games of the series. Per The Dallas Morning News, Jung's move to the bench is performance-based. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/rangers-royals... |
8/19/25 | 'Change is never easy': Josh Jung is on notice if he wants to stick with Texas Rangers. “There are times in your career where you have a year like Josh is having, where you've been optioned down, when you get a little break like he's had here, that you have to find a way to be a little more consistent,” manager Bruce Bochy said before the Rangers game with the Royals. 8/09/25 | Josh Jung Fueling Rangers Offense After Finding Swing Once Again. The Texas Rangers might have been average at best for the first three months of the season. If they are looking to be contenders in October the Rangers need more production from their hitters and that includes their third baseman Josh Jung, who is now getting hot at just the right time. Jung's slash line on the year is .250/.293/.391, but he's brought those numbers up since he spent some time at Triple-A Round Rock to work on his swing after seeing his batting average fall below .230. 8/06/25 | Former Texas Tech star Josh Jung launches HR to walk-off Yankees. Texas Tech baseball fans were filled with pride as Red Raider legend Josh Jung hit a clutch walk-off three-run home run for the Texas Rangers, securing an 8-5 victory over the New York Yankees in extra innings on Monday night. The ninth inning showcased some exciting moments, especially after Joc Pederson hit a pinch-hit home run to tie the game. Jung's performance highlighted his ability to deliver in high-pressure situations, a skill he developed during his time at Texas Tech. 8/05/25 | New York Yankees Continue to Scuffle, Making History with Latest Loss. The New York Yankees suffered another gut-punch loss on Monday night, losing 8-5 to the Texas Rangers in 11-innings. The Yankees surrendered a game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, and then lost it in the 10th on a three-run homer by Josh Jung. 8/05/25 | Jung's walk-off homer in 10th hands Yankees another loss. Josh Jung hit a three-run homer in the 10th inning, after Joc Pederson's tying pinch-hit homer in the ninth, and the Texas Rangers beat the New York Yankees 8-5 on Monday night for their seventh consecutive home win. Jung connected off Jake Bird (4-2) for his 11th homer, a 401-foot drive to left-center after Wyatt Langford was intentionally walked with two outs. Pederson, hitting .132, tied it with a 408-foot shot off Devin Williams. Source: https://www.citizensvoice.com/2025/08/05/jungs-wal... |
8/04/25 | Josh Jung back in Rangers' lineup just in time for Texas' stretch vs. slew of LHPs. Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung returned to the lineup Monday night. Jung, who missed four consecutive games with a sore calf, started at designated hitter in Monday's series opener vs. the New York Yankees at Globe Life Field. It also means he'll be back to do what he does in a stretch the Rangers will desperately need him to. Monday's game is the first of four games in a six-game stretch that the Rangers are expected to face a left-handed starting pitcher. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/08/... |
8/03/25 | Rangers could be without Josh Jung as crucial stretch vs. left-handed pitchers awaits. The Rangers are going to face a heavy load of their Kryptonite — left-handed starters — in the next week and may have to face it without their own Superman against lefties. Jung missed his fourth straight game with a troublesome left calf on Sunday and, for the first time, manager Bruce Bochy mentioned the possibility of another injured list stint for Jung. The Rangers were hoping he'd respond quicker to the calf issue than he has. The Rangers are 9-18 against lefties this season, the second worst winning percentage in the league. 8/02/25 | Danny Coulombe, Phil Maton introduce themselves to Texas Rangers with impressive displays. The two new Rangers relievers walked into the visitors' clubhouse Friday having to work through some potentially awkward introductions. Broke Josh Jung's wrist with a sinker last year. Be the smartest Rangers fan. Would have been a perfect introduction, too, had it not been for closer Robert Garcia allowing a two-run walkoff homer to J.P. Crawford in Seattle's 4-3 win. 7/21/25 | Rangers recall former All-Star 3B Josh Jung from Triple-A. Amid a slew of roster moves Monday, the Texas Rangers recalled third baseman Josh Jung, who was sent to Triple-A Round Rock earlier this month less than two years removed from being an All-Star selection. Jung was in an 8-for-58 slump (.138) when Texas optioned him July 2. At the time, Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said it was a "very tough" decisions that was ultimately best for both Jung and the organization. 7/19/25 | Rangers Boss Says Struggling Star Not Ready for Return to Majors Yet. The Texas Rangers made a flurry of moves leading up to Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers. None involved Josh Jung. The third baseman, who was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on July 2 to work on his swing and plate approach, is not ready to come back to the Rangers, at least in the opinion of manager Bruce Bochy and the organization. The clear sign was the decision to select the contract of infielder Cody Freeman on Friday — who was in Las Vegas to start the day — instead of recalling Jung, when the Rangers had to put outfielder Sam Haggerty on the 10-day injured list. 7/12/25 | Rangers Star Says 'It Sucks' When Talking About His Demotion. The Texas Rangers had to make a hard decision at the beginning of July featuring Josh Jung. After being a star prospect and becoming a key part of the franchise winning their first World Series championship in 2023, his career has become marred by injury and poor performance. A fractured wrist after he was hit by a pitch caused him to miss all but 46 games, with his absence being a major reason why the Rangers weren't able to defend their title. Unfortunately, things devolved to the point where Texas had no choice but to option Jung on July 2, with his .164/.205/.216 slash line in the last 30 days before his demotion producing the second lowest OPS in the Majors during the month of June. 7/06/25 | Rangers 3B Josh Jung's Round Rock debut delayed by inclement weather. Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung will make his Triple-A Round Rock season debut. Jung, who was optioned to the minor leagues last week to make necessary swing and approach adjustments in a low-pressure environment, was scheduled to play third base and bat second for Round Rock Sunday night before the game was postponed due to inclement weather. Round Rock's Saturday game vs. the Sugar Land Space Cowboys was also postponed. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/07/... |
7/03/25 | Should Chris Young bet on these Texas Rangers or cash in as trade deadline nears?. Josh Jung is the latest Ranger in Round Rock, the offense is in limbo and dreams of a long playoff run in ruins. Kevin Pillar recently called his former colleagues not so much a team as a collection, a 21st-century version of “25 guys, 25 cabs,” which is certainly one way to look at it. Chris Young has three weeks, maybe less, to determine which team he has on his hands. What he decides will impact not only what his Rangers do this year but in the years to come. 7/02/25 | Texas Rangers send struggling Josh Jung to minors as third baseman searches for swing. Having already tried a mental reset to get struggling third baseman Josh Jung going, the Rangers will try a more dramatic physical one. Jung, the club's first round pick in 2019, didn't start Tuesday and has slashed just .158/.208/.221/.429 since June 1. “He keeps working, but I don't know what else to tell you,” manager Bruce Bochy said Monday.
