5/09/25 Texas Rangers add veteran outfielder to roster, option Dustin Harris. With Evan Carter back in the majors, the Rangers have decided to strengthen their platoon options against left-handed pitching by adding veteran Sam Haggerty to the roster. Haggerty, who turns 31 on May 26, is a switch-hitter who has had far more success from the right side against left-handed pitching than as a left-handed hitter. Haggerty had spent most of his MLB career with Seattle, but got only 16 plate appearances in 2024. Perhaps most importantly, though, he was 9 for 22 with a 1.052 OPS against left-handed pitching.

5/05/25 Texas Rangers OF Evan Carter to be promoted back to major leagues. As the Texas Rangers attempt to jump start their long-dormant offense, they will get a critical piece back. President of Baseball Operations Chris Young said Monday during a short briefing with media on the club's offensive issues that Carter would join the team in Boston. Carter, a key cog in the stretch and postseason drive in 2023, has been at Triple-A Round Rock for the first month of the season, working on a swing change that would make it easier for him to deal with his chronic back issue. Carter, 22, has hit .284/.351/.577/.928 over his last 14 games in a three-week time span.
