There definitely were some struggles from Garcia this season but he didn't allow an earned run in May and finished 2023 with a 1.96 ERA in his final 22 games and 23 innings of 2023 (post trade deadline). With the Padres trying to trim payroll in 2024, Espada may end up getting some more time on the mound because he'll be on a rookie salary ($720,000).
