4/29/25 Twins' top prospect Walker Jenkins can't shake nagging ankle injury. If Walker Jenkins is going to rise fast through the Minnesota Twins' farm system, he's going to need his ankle to start cooperating. On Tuesday, the Twins revealed negative news on the club's No. 1 prospect, saying Jenkins will be out through at least the end of May due to lingering ankle soreness. Jenkins received a cortisone injection in his left ankle — the ankle that he sprained during spring training and then played two games and had eight at-bats at Double-A Wichita before being shut down because of discomfort in the ankle. Jenkins missed the first two months of last season at Class A after suffering a hamstring injury on Opening Day.

According to multiple reports, he suffered a "mild" sprained ankle after jumping for a ball and he's expected to miss 1-2 weeks. The Twins' minor league spring schedule begins on March 12. Jenkins could miss the start of exhibition play, but the injury is not expected to be anything too serious.

2/10/25 Prospects Luke Keaschall and Andrew Morris among Twins' non-roster invitees. The Twins will have 16 non-roster invites in camp when they open spring training in Fort Myers, Fla., this week. While top prospect Walker Jenkins, just 19, will not be in major league camp, a pair of top-10 prospects who are not on the 40-man roster already, Luke Keaschall and Andrew Morris, will be. Keaschall, who was named the Twins' minor league player of the year in 2024, finished last season at Double-A Wichita.

2/03/25 Twins' top prospect Walker Jenkins sets expectations high. Walker Jenkins, put simply, looks like a baseball player. Jenkins, 19, may still be a teenager, but he's No. 3 overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline, in the game and the expectations around him are sky high. If it were up to Jenkins, his debut would come this year, but the Twins will be sure not to rush the outfielder who is such a pivotal part of their future. In his first full season as a professional, Jenkins hit .282 with a .833 OPS.

1/30/25 Twins prospect Walker Jenkins welcomes high expectations after 'below average' season. Even if Jenkins didn't have the perfect season he wanted — he had a 28-game on-base streak during June and July — scouts raved about him. A 6-3, 210-pound lefthanded hitter, he has a swing eerily reminiscent of Joe Mauer's. His plate discipline is rare for a hitter with as much power as he has. He's ranked as the sport's No. 3 prospect by MLB Pipeline and No. 5 by Baseball America.

OF Walker Jenkins | 20 | AA | 2026 A left-handed hitter at 6’3” 210 lbs, Jenkins walked more than he struck out and slashed .282/.394/.439 in 82 professional games during his first full season. The sixth overall pick in the stacked 2023 class, Jenkins took the top spot on this list last year and is the odds-on favorite to claim it again next season unless the Twinkies really slam the gas on his development: an outcome he might invite with a hot start at Double-A.

8/11/24 Minnesota Twins' Potential Superstar Walker Jenkins Must Stay Healthy. Walker Jenkins' enormous athleticism is exactly what the Minnesota Twins need right now to make a stretch-run move for a playoff spot. A left quadriceps strain limited him during spring training. After one at-bat in the 2024 season opener on April 9 at Class A Fort Myers, he strained his left hamstring and was out until May 20. The Twins, 3½ games behind the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Central Division, and a half-game ahead of the Kansas City Royals for an AL wild-card spot, must use what they have for now.

MLB's first Spring Breakout promised to showcase the sport's best and brightest prospects, the stars of tomorrow. The Twins' top prospect Walker Jenkins, the No. 5 pick in last year's draft and MLB Pipeline's 10th-ranked prospect overall, will not play in the game, Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said on Thursday, after straining his left quad in recent days. “Any time you have a muscle strain, you just want to make sure you knock it out, so however long it takes him to get that knocked out and in a better spot — he's still able to do a lot of activity,” Falvey said. Jenkins will still come over to the major-league side and be in the dugout with his teammates — he just won't play in the game, which will take place Saturday at 3:05 C.T. against the Tampa Bay Rays' top prospects.
