4/25/25 Washington Nationals Slugger's Power Production Gives Him Superstar Potential. The Washington Nationals have been playing some better baseball of late, winning four out of their last five games. Despite a slow start to the year, the Nationals are starting to play better of late with some encouraging signs from the young core. While there have been multiple players both in the lineup and in the starting rotation playing well, one player has really stood out above the rest. Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report recently wrote about the power of James Wood being something that the Nationals should be getting excited about this year.

4/23/25 Nationals mash early to claim another Beltway win over Orioles. April 24 - James Wood and Josh Bell belted early home runs and Luis Garcia Jr.'s eighth-inning sacrifice fly broke a tie as the Washington Nationals beat the visiting Baltimore Orioles 4-3 on Wednesday night. The Nationals won for the second night in a row and go for the sweep of the three-game series Thursday night. They've claimed victories in four of their last five games. 4/17/25 Washington Nationals Emerging Star Putting Up Mind Blowing Numbers Against Lefties. The Washington Nationals have had an up and down start to the season and while the wins have not been there in significant numbers - at least not yet - some young stars have emerged as having taken the next step. There may be no greater example in baseball as a whole let alone just the Nationals of someone who has ascended in the early portion of the season to a higher status level than Washington's young slugging outfielder James Wood. In 18 games at the start of the year, Wood has done some absolutely incredible things and is slashing .242/.359/.561 with 16 hits and sitting tied for the National League lead with six home runs along with 13 RBI. Despite being a left-handed hitter -- who of course have a tendency to struggle against left-handed pitching especially early in their careers -- Wood has absolutely teed off on opposing lefty pitchers.

The Pirates never got a runner past second base in losing for the fourth time in five games.

4/06/25 Nationals host Diamondbacks, seek first series win. After breaking a four-game losing streak Saturday, the host Washington Nationals will look for their first series victory of the season in the finale of a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon. Getting there has not been easy for the Nationals. 3/26/25 Nationals 2025 Preview: Looking to make this year one to remember. The Washington Nationals begin a new season Thursday, and if all goes well, so will D.C. After the franchise's cratering years (2021-22) and rebuilding seasons (2023-24), the time is now for this team of young and talented building blocks to elevate to championship contenders. One of the reasons behind the spark in confidence began when outfielders James Wood and Dylan Crews made their debuts with the team last year.

3/02/25 James Wood & Dylan Crews' 2025 Topps Series One 1/1 Dual Patch Auto pulled. The sports card world thrives on the thrill of the chase, but every now and then, a card surfaces that makes the entire hobby stop in its tracks. For collectors, this is the stuff dreams are made of and there's no doubt that James Wood and Dylan Crews are two of the most electric prospects in the game and as we get closer and closer to opening day, we can certainly see why both are expected to play major roles for the Washington Nationals.

2/21/25 Dave Martinez Reveals Who Washington Nationals Leadoff Hitter Will Be This Season. Outside of this being the 25th anniversary of the nation's capital having a Major League Baseball team, it's also one that could determine the future of the franchise. Since winning the World Series in 2019, the Nationals have been of the worst teams in the MLB, going into a full rebuild that has resulted in them entering Spring Training with a young roster full of talented but unproven players. James Wood was electric after he was called up for his debut. CJ Abrams made his first All-Star team.

2/18/25 Washington Nationals 'Being Extra Cautious' With Minor Injury Star Player Picked Up. The Washington Nationals have one of the best young cores in the entire MLB, and a primary component in that group is outfielder James Wood, who was strong in his 2024 debut. This morning there was a report that Wood sat out the defensive drills for the Nationals, and was only taking batting drills instead, as was said by Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports. Zuckerman would follow this report with further information, reporting that Wood's injury is quad tendinitis, as stated by manager Dave Martinez. This news is generally positive given the injury seems to only be a minor one at the moment, and Wood is still able to get his batting practice in while working through spring training.

2/13/25 Washington Nationals, CJ Abrams Putting Last Year's Incident 'In the Past'. James Wood and Dylan Crews are getting much of the attention based on their ceilings being superstar-caliber, but someone who should not be overlooked is CJ Abrams. Acquired as one of the featured parts of the Juan Soto trade package, he has worked through growing pains at the Major League level and earned his first All-Star Game selection last year after getting off to a strong first half of the season. Abrams was demoted to the minors when he was caught staying out late at a casino before a day game, something the Nationals felt they had to immediately and harshly address to nip that type of behavior in the bud.

1/29/25 Washington Nationals Could Pilfer Dodgers Surplus To Put a Stamp on Offseason. The Washington Nationals are looking to take a step forward in 2025 with another year of development under the belts of their young stars. James Wood and Dylan Crews debuted in the Majors last year, and both outfielders look to be pivotal pieces of the roster for years to come. Offensively, the Nationals are set for 2025 outside of a few potential tweaks here and there; one area that could use some improvement, however, is their starting rotation. With Fangraphs projecting MacKenzie Gore to serve as the ace and Jake Irvin as the number two pitcher in the rotation, it is not a bad unit, but it could certainly use some improvement.

1/28/25 'Sky is the Limit' for Washington Nationals Young Slugger Throughout His Career. There are a lot of reasons for Washington Nationals fans and the organization to be excited about the future. At the forefront of that foundation is left fielder James Wood, who made his MLB debut on July 1, 2024. A second round pick in the 2021 MLB draft out of IMG Academy by the San Diego Padres, he steadily moved his way up the prospect rankings. Barely a year after being selected, he was part of the package heading back to the Nationals in exchange for Juan Soto in the blockbuster trade.
