10/23/24 Xander Bogaerts feeling the heat from Padres after leaving Red Sox for big contract. Xander Bogaerts left the Boston Red Sox organization as a free agent after the 2022 season, which has been a huge blow to his former team. Boston's shortstop position has been unstable since Bogaerts' departure and the team's offense has been lacking. Meanwhile, Bogaerts has been to the playoffs since his tenure with the San Diego Padres began. The Dodgers eliminated San Diego in the NLDS after its offense screeched to a halt in Games 4 and 5.

10/11/24 Xander Bogaerts makes premature Red Sox comparison to Fernando Tatís Jr's Padres run. The San Diego Padres have posted an electric playoff run so far. Their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers has everything — grand slams, elite pitching, home run robberies, rivalry spats, and much more. But Fernando Tatís Jr.'s performance, in particular, has been incredible to watch. His teammate, former Boston Red Sox Xander Bogaerts, agrees. He compared Tatís to one of the most clutch playoff performers of all time. “David [Ortiz] did it a long time,” Bogaerts said. “But for how young he is, you don't see many people doing what he's doing right now. He's really putting us on his back right now. It's special to see.” Tatís' offense has been a huge part of San Diego's success. He's slashing

10/07/24 San Diego Padres baseball bling showcases Friars' sense of flair. The Friar Faithful turned out last week by the thousands to support their beloved boys of summer (and fall), and there's been a plateful of iconic imagery added to the Padres history books. Whether it's the casual flip of a home-run hitting bat by Fernano Tatis Jr., or Xander Bogaerts or Jackson Merrill rounding the bags during their home-run trots, though, the sluggers are all doing it in style, as are their brethren on the mound. Many of the Padres players have taken to accessorizing their official uniforms with eye-catching necklaces that showcase their unique identities, some of it high-end, some of it just swaggy, all of it reminiscent of the Slam Diego surge and the attendant chunky chains. Many of the players have been spotted this post-season wearing gold necklaces that nicely complement the Friars gold-and-brown color scheme.

10/07/24 Insider Warns Red Sox Failure To Keep Playoff Legend In Boston Was 'Obvious' Mistake. The Boston Red Sox haven't been in the postseason for the last three years, and that isn't supposed to be the norm for such a storied franchise. Gone are stars of that team like Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez, and Kyle Schwarber, and that's not even to mention former Boston superstar Mookie Betts, who was gone even sooner.

9/28/24 Red Sox Surprise Superstar Prospect 'Hopeful' He Can Make Opening Day Roster. At the end of another disappointing season, the Boston Red Sox must quickly turn the page to 2025, and that means roster decisions are already percolating in the offices at Fenway Park. A significant source of hope around Red Sox Nation is the burgeoning group of top prospects drawing closer to their major-league debuts. Kristian Campbell came out of nowhere in 2024, blitzing his way through three levels while winning both Eastern League Most Valuable Player and MLB.com's Minor League Hitter of the Year. The fourth-round pick the Red Sox got as compensation for losing Xander Bogaerts has blossomed into a superstar in the prospect world.

9/24/24 Red Sox Future Superstar Wins First MVP Award Before Major-League Debut. The hype around the Boston Red Sox farm system is at an all-time high, and deservedly so. After several years of rebuilding under former president Chaim Bloom, the Boston farm is booming, particularly when it comes to position players. The consensus top four Red Sox prospects all progressed to Triple-A in 2024, and all four could make an impact in Major League Baseball soon. Of those top four prospects, none has had a rise more meteoric than infielder/outfielder Kristian Campbell, the Red Sox's fourth-round pick in 2023 drafted as compensation for losing Xander Bogaerts in free agency.

9/22/24 White Sox lose 119th game to tie the AL record as the Padres win 6-2 behind 3 home runs. The Chicago White Sox tied the American League record with their 119th loss on Saturday night, when Xander Bogaerts and Elias Díaz each hit a two-run homer to help the San Diego Padres win 6-2 and move closer to a playoff spot. The White Sox (36-119) matched the AL mark set by the 2003 Detroit Tigers, who finished 43-119. One more defeat for Chicago over its final seven games would equal the post-1900 record of 120 losses by the 1962 expansion New York Mets.

9/07/24 Powered by Tyler O'Neill, Red Sox ride Trevor Story's return past White Sox. After establishing himself as one of the game's best at the position with the Rockies, Story inked a six-year deal with the Red Sox ahead of the 2022 season, but as their second baseman in Year 1. He played that at an elite level, too, and likely would have won a Gold Glove. But Story played in just 94 games, sidelined for a chunk of the season with a wrist fracture . Advertisement After longtime Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts moved on to the Padres in free agency , Story was named the Sox' everyday shortstop in 2023, but elbow surgery cost him much of that season . This year, it was a shoulder injury — and he was supposed to miss the entire season. Get 108 Stitches Receive the Globe's best reporting

9/06/24 Red Sox Top Prospect Is Best Hitter In Minor Leagues, Per Latest Report. When the Boston Red Sox lost shortstop Xander Bogaerts after 10 seasons and a pair of World Series rings, the mood was somber around Red Sox Nation. Sure, maybe it was crazy to ask the Red Sox to match the 11-year, $270 million Bogaerts got from the San Diego Padres, but it was hard to envision how losing Bogaerts would in any way help Boston get closer to a championship someday.
