8/14/25 | Nationals' Slugger Josh Bell Has Quietly Turned Things Around After Brutal Start. With August approaching, it's the midway point and the regular season entering its final stretch, the 2025 Washington Nationals will be looking to end what's been an extremely disappointing campaign on some sort of a high note. After getting off to a hot start in April, the Nats quickly reverted to the same level of futility they have been stuck at for the past several years, once again finding themselves near the bottom of the totem pole in the National League. With things going as poorly as they have been this season, it's been tough to find any sort of silver linings up in Washington, but that doesn't mean there haven't been any positive developments that have come about amid all the failure. Perhaps one of the more underrated story lines surrounding the team over the past couple of months has been the remarkable turnaround at the plate that veteran slugger Josh Bell has managed to pull off after getting off to one of the worst starts in all of baseball early on in the year. 7/24/25 | Nationals' Josh Bell explains recent resurgence as trade rumors heat up. The Washington Nationals have won three of their last four games, but they are still woefully out of the playoff race. One of the best hitters on the team in recent weeks has turned himself into a prime trade candidate. The beginning of the 2025 season was horrendous for Bell. 7/17/25 | Proposed Trade Sends Nationals Fan Favorite Southpaw to New York Mets. The Washington Nationals are dead last in their division and seem like one of the few teams that are without a doubt going to be sellers at the deadline coming up. Offseason signings like Josh Bell, Kyle Finnegan and Amed Rosario are sure to be hot commodities in just a few weeks. Left-handed relievers are going to go at a premium this year, so the Nationals should have no issue trading him away. One team that makes perfect sense as a trade partner is the New York Mets. 6/26/25 | Nationals Major Free Agent Addition Has Struggled in One Key Area. The Washington Nationals made several veteran additions to their team this past winter, hoping they would help push the team forward in their rebuild. Unfortunately, most of those moves have not paid off, with very little impact being made by the players signed in free agency. Arguably, the most disappointing addition to this point has been designated hitter Josh Bell. For the 2021 season and through 2022, before he was traded along with Juan Soto to the San Diego Padres, Bell was crushing the ball. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/nationals/news/nationals-ma... |
6/24/25 | Washington Nationals DH Josh Bell Breaks Modern MLB Record With Wild HR. The Washington Nationals were already well on their way to victory Monday night, but Josh Bell had one more highlight left in the tank. In the top of the ninth inning, the Nationals led the San Diego Padres 9-3. Yuki Matsui got first baseman Nathaniel Lowe to ground out for the first out of the frame before immediately burying Bell in an 0-2 count. 6/24/25 | Nationals' Josh Bell hit the highest pitch for a home run in MLB history. Josh Bell has hit 181 home runs in his MLB career, but he'd never hit one like this. In fact, no player has ever hit one like this, at least in the pitch tracking era, which began in 2008. On Monday night, Bell turned on a ninth-inning home run in San Diego batting right-handed, putting the exclamation point on a Nationals win. The key: The pitch was 4.65 feet off the ground. 6/08/25 | Struggling Nationals Fan Favorite Finally Heating Up at the Plate. As the month of June continues to creep along and the All-Star break inches ever closer, the Washington Nationals continue to be one of the more interesting teams in the MLB. For the first time in what seemed like forever, Washington could see the light at the end of the tunnel. Aiding these efforts has been the quiet resurgence of veteran slugger Josh Bell over the past couple of weeks. Bell, who the Nationals signed to a one-year deal this past offseason, got off to an absolutely brutal start to the 2025 campaign. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/nationals/news/struggling-n... |

5/20/25 | Struggling Nationals Slugger Might Just be Worst Hitter in Baseball. The Washington Nationals have quickly become one of the most interesting teams in baseball this season. What isn't inspiring optimism, however, is the performance of their veteran slugger, Josh Bell. The Nationals signed Bell to a one-year deal this past offseason in hopes he could provide a spark to their largely inexperienced lineup. Instead of providing said spark, Bell has instead regressed into arguably the worst hitter in baseball this season. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/nationals/news/struggling-n... |
