4/26/24	Mariners notebook: Only 'good vibes' for Eugenio Suarez in return to Seattle. Eugenio Suarez is back at T-Mobile Park this weekend, and he's brought his signature vibes with him. To hear him tell it, though, the Arizona Diamondbacks' new third baseman has mostly retired the popular “Good Vibes Only” mantra he introduced to Seattle during the Mariners' playoff chase in 2022. “I'm leaving all that here in Seattle,” Suarez said in the visitors' dugout Friday afternoon. The Arizona Diamondbacks have added two players who will take up a combined $25.3 million on the payroll in 2024, and by all indications, they are not done. Arizona's front office shored up third base with the Eugenio Suarez trade and deepened the rotation by signing Eduardo Rodriguez after last season's World Series run. The trade that sent Eugenio Suarez and Jesse Winker from the Cincinnati Reds to the Seattle Mariners was widely panned at the time it was announced, the Reds having sent a pair of controllable hitters off power-producing seasons for precious little of the emerging young talent in the Seattle system. Jake Fraley has already outshone Winker's production in the two years since the deal, while Brandon Williamson seemingly was getting better by the start before COVID sent him to the shelf.
