10/07/24	Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte named a finalist for the Hank Aaron Award. After an outstanding season that saw him hit a career-high 36 home runs and knock in a career-high 95 runs, Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte has been named a finalist for the Hank Aaron Award, MLB announced Monday. The Hank Aaron Award has been given out for the past 25 years to "the most outstanding regular season offensive performer in each league," according to MLB. The winners will be determined by a fan vote combined with a vote from a panel of MLB legends that includes Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, Ken Griffey Jr., Chipper Jones, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz, Johnny Bench, Craig Biggio, Eddie Murray and Robin Yount. 9/27/24	Defensive miscues put Diamondbacks in early hole vs. Padres. The Arizona Diamondbacks could not have started on a much worse foot in the first inning of what is essentially a playoff game Friday against the San Diego Padres, and defensive miscues from Ketel Marte played a key role. The D-backs fell behind 4-0, and starter Merrill Kelly needed 31 pitches to record three outs. 9/24/24	Giants beat up Eduardo Rodriguez as Diamondbacks lose some of their wild-card lead. The Diamondbacks dropped a game with their best player out of the lineup, and in doing so they made their route to a wild-card spot a little bumpier. With Ketel Marte apparently asking for – and receiving – a day out of the lineup to give his lingering ankle issue time to recover, the Diamondbacks fell to San Francisco Giants, 6-3, on Monday night at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks' lead on the final playoff spot in the National League dropped to 1 1/2 games over the Atlanta Braves, who were idle ahead of a three-game series with the Mets that begins on Tuesday night. Safe to say Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star Ketel Marte has heated back up after his injured list stint, as he clobbered a home run for a third straight game Sunday at the Milwaukee Brewers. Marte fell behind 1-2 against Brewers starter Frankie Montas in the first inning, but he unloaded on a fastball down the middle. Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star Ketel Marte set a new career high with his 33rd home run of the season in the first inning Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Marte jumped on the first pitch from Brewers right-hander Colin Rea and just got enough of it to deep right field. Ketel Marte homered and had four RBIs, Eugenio Suárez hit two homers and the Arizona Diamondbacks routed the Texas Rangers 14-4. For the first time since July 29, Arizona Diamondbacks stalwarts Ketel Marte and Christian Walker will anchor the right side of the infield together against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. Both players jumped back into the lineup during Arizona's last road trip, but Marte has not played more than an inning of defense since his initial ankle injury on April 1o. Walker and Marte have both been on a return-to-play progressions after neither player went through a rehab assignment. With two off days this week, Walker said he expects to be full-go. It is looking increasingly likely Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star Ketel Marte will follow Christian Walker back to the field before this road trip is over. The D-backs finish their series at Oracle Park on Thursday and head to Houston for three games against the Astros over the weekend. Manager Torey Lovullo did not have a definitive answer, but he said he feels based on Marte's progress (high-ankle sprain) that the second baseman will be back in the lineup on this trip.
