3/18/06After committing two errors at first base yesterday, Lopez may be limited to at-bats behind the plate and occasionaly at DH.
3/03/06Lopez played first base in the O's first spring training game on Thursday. He made no errors and looked good at first. While he may qualify at first base, Lopez is much more valuable as a catcher.
7/25/05Lopez was activated from the DL Monday and is in the starting lineup. Lopez is a Top 5 catcher and is safe to return to active fantasy lineups.
7/21/05Lopez has begun a rehab assignment at AA and went 2-5 with two RBI in his first start. He stated his broken hand felt good after the game and remains on track to return to the lineup on Monday.
7/11/05Lopez will travel with the team after the all-star break but probably won't play on the 10-game road trip to start the second half. The earliest he will return is July 25th.
7/05/05Lopez could return to the Orioles' lineup this weekend. He is expected to play in at least three rehab games before being activated.

9/27/02Thursday's game was called when radar indicated the steady rain that began around 1 p.m. would continue through the night (which it did). Their four-game season-ending series against the Mets is scheduled to begin at 5:10 p.m. with the doubleheader opener, weather permitting. The forecast calls for rain all day in New York, and there's a good chance the Braves and Mets may end up with doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday. Expect plenty of callups to see weekend action for Atlanta.

Rested for a fourth straight game Friday night and on the sideline again today when Henry Blanco makes his regular start with Greg Maddux, Lopez expects he will be near top form Sunday......Keep him out of your line up until you actually see him play a game.

6/10/02Javy had 5 RBI's in last night's win at Texas. He has only 19 for the year but Manager Bobby Cox feels that the former all star catcher is beginning to turn things around.....I would probably wait a few more games to see if this 1 game was a fluke or if he really is ready to play the way he is expected to.
5/09/02Lopez did not play last night in the loss to the Dodgers. His batting average is down to .179 and he commited a throwing error that set up the Dodger's winning run in the first game of the series. Expect to see Henry Blanco, a defensive specialist playing more in the catcher's position.

4/25/02Lopez missed last night's game against Arizona with a sore right thumb. Right now the Braves are down playing the injury but his owners may need to start looking for a back up just in case......
3/22/02Lopez is the Braves starting catcher but if you have him, you need to know that he does not catch for Greg Maddux. That job belongs to newly acquired Henry Blanco. Make sure you know the day's that Maddux pitches and use your second catcher. Also, Blanco will be used late in games for defensive purposes. This will limit some of Javy's at bats.
3/18/02Javy is struggling this spring. He has an .067 batting avg. and has yet to drive in a run in 7 games. He missed several games due to a neck injury.
3/14/02Lopez returned to action today after missing a few games with a stiff neck.

3/29/01Lopez may indeed be ready to catch on Opening Day. It is day-to-day at this point, but don't be surprised if he is in the Opening Day lineup.
3/27/01Lopez took some batting practice today and may even be ready for Opening Day.
3/26/01Lopez is expected to return to action on April 6.
3/14/01Lopez will miss the next 3 to 4 weeks after breaking a finger on his left hand blocking a Greg Maddux pitch. He will likely not be ready for the opener.
2000Lopez had a career year in '98. He had career highs in homers, RBI, runs and hits. Lopez injured his knee attempting to steal and was put on the DL June 22. He was activated after the all-star break. He re-injured his knee and went back on the DL July 26. His knee is now completely healed. He has played well in spring training and should be able to return to his old form and post similar numbers to 1998.
