5/09/24 Why Seattle Mariners should keep Josh Rojas in leadoff spot. For as much as the Seattle Mariners have struggled offensively this season, there's been one consistently shining bright spot in their lineup. It hasn't been star center fielder Julio Rodríguez or key offseason acquisitions Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver. Cal Raleigh has had some huge moments, but even he has been stuck in neutral at times at the plate. The offensive star for the Mariners early on is third baseman Josh Rojas, who leads the team in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

5/08/24 Twins' looking for some relief for their right-handed relief. When the Twins sent longtime infielder Jorge Polanco to Seattle for four players in January, president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said it was a deal made with the future. Two of the players were prospects, outfielder Gabriel Garcia and pitcher Darren Bowen, and two were veterans the Twins were hoping would help Minnesota defend its American League Central title this season. Garcia, 20, and Bowen, 23, are playing productive innings with high-A Cedar Rapids right now, but the veterans — right-handers Justin Topa and Anthony DeSclafani — have yet to pitch an inning for the Twins, who started Wednesday's game against the Mariners at Target Field two games behind first-place Cleveland in the Central.

In the first two games of a three-game series with the Houston Astros, Polanco brought his bat along for the ride. After clubbing his fifth home run in the series opener on Friday, Polanco went 2-for-5 with a run in the Mariners' 5-0 win on Saturday.

3/15/24 Ex-teammate on Jorge Polanco: Seattle Mariners fans will love him. Jorge Polanco, one of the key Seattle Mariners' additions this offseason, has been having a nice spring training in Arizona. Through 10 appearances in Cactus League play, the veteran infielder is 8 for 20 (.400) with two homers, a double, four walks, five runs scored and eight RBIs. Acquired via a trade in late January from Minnesota for four players, the 30-year-old switch-hitter appears to be fitting right in with his team after spending a decade with the Twins. May and Polanco both debuted in the big leagues with the Twins in 2014 and played the next six seasons together, and May had a glowing assessment of the new Mariners second baseman when he joined Seattle Sports' Bump and Stacy in studio Wednesday.

3/01/24 Morosi: New-look lineup can help Mariners avoid another slow start. The Seattle Mariners' opening day roster will look very different from last year, with roughly half the 26-man roster set to be different than what the M's rolled out in the first game of 2023. The Mariners had a slower start to the offseason and did more subtraction than addition early on before adding a number of veteran bats like Jorge Polanco, Mitch Garver, Luke Raley and Mitch Haniger. “It is, I do think, a better team than what they had in terms of that quality, the well-roundedness, the ability to execute right now, than they maybe had a year ago,” MLB Network's Jon Morosi told Seattle Sports' Wyman and Bob on Wednesday.
