It was the first cycle by a Twins player since Jorge Polanco had one in 2019. Jorge Polanco has been one of the best hitters in baseball early on this season, but he hasn't been able to try to be much more for the Seattle Mariners. Not only was Polanco coming off offseason surgery to repair a knee issue that held him down in 2024, but a core injury limited the switch-hitting infielder for basically all of April to serving as either the designated hitter or a pinch-hitter, and only swinging from the left side. The 31-year-old Polanco made his return both to the field and to hitting right-handed on Tuesday, playing second base against a left-handed starting pitcher for the Athletics.
