4/09/24 David Peralta’s quest to return to the majors with the Chicago Cubs is the latest chapter in an incredible journey. David Peralta needed gas money. The circumstances surrounding his dilemma were not what Peralta envisioned when he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals as a 17-year-old amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Peralta, then a pitcher, endured two surgeries to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. After the second procedure caused him to miss the entire 2008 season, the Cardinals released him ...

3/26/24 Cubs' David Peralta wasn't fully healthy for Opening Day, but he's competing for a spot on the team in April. Outfielder David Peralta has quickly made an impression on this Cubs team, even though he will begin the season in the minor leagues continuing to build up his throwing program after offseason forearm surgery. “He's been in tougher spots than most of these guys have as players,” manager Craig Counsell said of Peralta, who saved his career by converting from pitcher to outfielder in independent ball. Peralta served as the Cubs designated hitter in six games this spring, going 8-for-18 with three extra-base hits. After signing a non-roster invite deal this offseason, he remained with the team through his spring training opt-out date.

2/19/24 David Peralta, Cubs agree to intriguing 1-year deal. The Chicago Cubs will be adding David Peralta to their roster, per New York Post's John Heyman and FanSided's Robert Murray. The 36-year-old outfielder, who spent the majority of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, became a free agent last season following a one-year stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 36-year-old's performance could be attributed to a left elbow injury that had been a nuisance to him for much of the season.

1/25/24 2023 Los Angeles Dodgers Player Reviews: David Peralta. David Peralta was signed to a one-year contract to join the Los Angeles Dodgers prior to the 2023 season, providing them with a needed left-handed outfield bat. The veteran joined the Dodgers after spending the majority of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, then a quick stint with the Tampa Bay Rays after being traded in 2022. Facing a heavy dose of right-handed pitchers, Peralta struggled out of the gate. After reaching multiple benchmarks in his contract, Peralta earned a total of $8 million in salary for the 2023 season and also finished in the mix for a Gold Glove Award for his play in left field.

The Los Angeles Dodgers relied on several outfielders to navigate their way through the 2023 season and once again have to dive into the free agent or trade markets to replace that production. David Peralta, Chris Taylor, Jason Heyward, James Outman, Mookie Betts, Jonny DeLuca and Trayce Thompson factored into the outfield mix this past season, but the Dodgers would be better off finding some more stability.

11/30/23 2023 Dodgers in review: David Peralta. David Peralta was one of several Dodgers veterans in 2023 to have been brought in on a one-year deal. Peralta split the 2022 season between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Rays. Peralta put up above average offensive numbers in Arizona, as he slashed .248/.316/.460 with 12 home runs and 19 doubles in 87 games before being traded. With Tampa Bay, Peralta struggled mightily in the power department, failing to connect for a single home run while posting .652 OPS and 18 RBI in 47 games as a Ray.

11/24/23 Dodgers Free Agent David Peralta Progressing With Rehab From Surgery. Among the new additions to the Los Angeles Dodgers roster for the 2023 season was signing David Peralta to a one-year contract. 11/10/23 Dodgers notes: Juan Soto, Teoscar Hernandez, GM Meetings. The Dodgers are firmly in the market for starting pitching, but they are also inquiring on bolstering their corner outfield spots. The Dodgers currently have just one full-time corner outfielder on their active roster after David Peralta and Jason Heyward became free agents. If the Dodgers are to trade for a corner outfielder, they can look no further than their division rivals down in San Diego. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune noted before season's end that the Padres are looking to shed payroll after splurging on Xander Bogaerts last offseason and extending Manny Machado.

11/01/23 Dodgers notes: David Peralta, Michael Busch, Mookie Betts. David Peralta is one of 12 Dodgers set to hit free agency after the conclusion of this year's World Series. Peralta was an instrumental piece in the Dodgers' clubhouse this season, bringing his infectious freight train celebration to the team, with players frequently using it whenever they reached first base. For the second straight season, Peralta failed to connect on a single home run in the second half of the season. The offensive mediocrity of Peralta's 2023 season led the veteran to compile just a 0.1 fWAR, making him just slightly more valuable than a replacement level player.
