3/26/24 Rockies trade for outfielder. DENVER — The Colorado Rockies are adding a veteran presence in the outfield before the regular season opener on Thursday. The Rockies announced Sunday that they traded for outfielder Jake Cave from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Germán Márquez was placed on the 60-day injured list. Cave, 31, was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft. He appeared in 65 games last season for Philadelphia with five home runs and 21 RBI. You perform well for a few years but then your numbers start to dip. You're sent to Triple-A for most of the '21-'22 season.
