9/13/24 | Phillies a -145 Favorite in First of Two Pivotal Mets Series. Citizens Bank Park will have a hint of October in the air this weekend. The New York Mets are in town with a wild card berth on the line and the Phillies are still pursuing the best overall record in the National League and the home-field advantage that comes with it. The Phillies are a -145 favorite on the series line at DraftKings, but the pitching matchups aren't as strong as the previous two Atlanta series. Aaron Nola is leading off on Friday, Kolby Allard is penciled into the dreaded fifth rotation spot for Saturday, and the machine that is Cristopher Sanchez inside CBP heads to the bump on Sunday. 9/08/24 | Former Maligned Philadelphia Phillies Infielder Reportedly Breaks His Foot. During this past offseason, the Philadelphia Phillies didn't do much when it came to bringing in players from the outside despite their disappointing elimination at home in the National League Championship Series. Instead, the front office prioritized re-signing Aaron Nola and extending Zack Wheeler to keep this one-two punch at the top of their rotation during this World Series window. The one notable move the Phillies made was bringing in superutilityman Whit Merrifield on a one-year, $8 million deal that looked like a bargain considering the veteran was coming off his third All-Star season in 2023. This forced Philadelphia to part ways with him on July 12 when they outright released him. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/phillies/news/former-malign... |
