5/14/24	Pirates Top Brewers. MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Pittsburgh Pirates built a 5-0 lead and held off a Milwaukee rally to earn an 8-6 win over the Brewers on Monday night at American Family Field. Jake Bauers hit his 4th homer of the season and had 4 RBIs. Willy Adames drove in the other two Milwaukee runs. Colin Rea took the loss. It was a rare stinker for the Milwaukee bullpen as three pitchers gave up five runs. The Brewers also lost Rhys Hoskins who left the game after injuring his hamstring. The severity of the injury will be determined today. Milwaukee, now 24-17 and still in first place in the Central, will host the Pirates again tonight…pre game show at 6:05 on WSAU. The Milwaukee Brewers found themselves on the wrong end of a momentum-swinging decision by an umpiring crew for a second straight day. Milwaukee thought it had tied the game in the ninth inning of a 1-0 loss to Tampa Bay on Monday night when a third strike to Jake Bauers got past Rays catcher René Pinto, enabling Sal Frelick to score from third. Bauers was ruled out and Frelick was ordered to go back to third when plate umpire Ryan Additon ruled that the hitter's backswing hit Pinto's helmet. Jake Bauers hit a three-run home run in a four-RBI day as the Milwaukee Brewers overcame an early three-run deficit to defeat the host Baltimore Orioles 11-5 on Saturday. 3/22/24	Giants shade Brewers. It was an uphill battle for the Milwaukee Brewers all evening and they came up short against the San Francisco Giants in Cactus League action Thursday, 7-6. Starter Robert Gasser had a rough outing, giving up six runs on seven hits with four walks in just three and a third innings. Milwaukee got a couple of runs batted in each from Jake Bauers and Zavier Warren. The Brewers are 12-14 in spring games with six left to play before they break camp next week. If a time machine opened up in front of you in early April 2023 and told you that Jake Bauers would play over half the season on the Yankees big league roster, you would probably have some questions. Bad news is: in the case of the 2023 Yankees, it was both. While Bauers had some moments, in general he was what you would've expected from said Quad-A type of player. Fresh off the injured list on Sunday afternoon, Yankees outfielder Jake Bauers provided an immediate spark. “He's done a really good job providing some power, he's done a good job in the zone,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said before the game, excited about Bauers' return from a shoulder injury. Between Bauers and the simultaneous return of speedster Greg Allen, the Yankees got better in the outfield on Sunday. Bauers has a 115 wRC+ this season, hitting .226 with a .783 OPS and seven home runs, a strong campaign for a player that began the year in Triple-A. Allen is a versatile defender with skills on the base paths, acquired in a trade with the Red Sox in May. The team also optioned infielder/outfielder Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of the series finale against the visiting Kansas City Royals. Bauers, 27, was in the starting lineup for Sunday's matinee, batting leadoff and playing right field. He entered the game hitting .224 with seven homers and 19 RBIs in 49 games. Allen, 30, is batting .214 with one homer and one RBI in 10 games with the Yankees since being acquired in a May 20 trade with the Boston Red Sox.
