7/02/25 | Former Giants Prospect Has Huge Night in Double-A After Being Traded to Red Sox. The San Francisco Giants are struggling right now top to bottom, and that even includes their brand new superstar Rafael Devers. Devers will figure it out and eventually start hitting again, but it makes it a bit worse to see what one of the return pieces for the Boston Red Sox did on Tuesday night in the minor leagues. Understandably, much of the discussion around the trade revolved around Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks as the Major League pieces, however, the Giants also sent over two of their best prospects in James Tibbs III and Jose Bello. 7/02/25 | Red Sox Opening Door For Another Post-Rafael Devers Trade. The trade deadline will pass on July 31st and it sounds like the Boston Red Sox are open for business. Boston has been busy already, obviously. The Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants which led some to wonder if Boston was planning some sort of sale afterward. Since the Devers trade, Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow has been consistent with the message that Boston is looking to add. 7/01/25 | Red Sox could 'restructure' $120 million All-Star's contract, per insider. The Boston Red Sox are struggling a little bit since trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com notes that if Boston sells, third baseman Alex Bregman could be on the move. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/mlb/boston-red-sox... |
7/01/25 | Jordan Hicks Makes Great First Impression In Promising Red Sox Debut. Fifteen days after trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants in a stunning move, the Boston Red Sox finally got their first glimpse of the return. Devers netted pitchers Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks along with prospects James Tibbs and Jose Bello. Hicks, who was on the 15-day injured list with toe inflammation at the time, was the first of the quartet to debut for the Red Sox. After a pair of rehab appearances at Triple-A Worcester (which is where Harrison is as well), Hicks was activated from the IL on Monday and pitched an inning in Boston's 13-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Fenway Park. 6/30/25 | MLB Mock Blockbuster Trade: Boston Red Sox Deal Jarren Duran to Philadelphia Phillies. The 2025 baseball season is now one month away from the MLB trade deadline. The Red Sox traded third baseman Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants in the middle of June. Since then, pundits have suggested outfielder Jarren Duran could be next. ESPN's Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan placed the likelihood of a Duran trade on the lower end of possibilities last week. Source: https://www.si.com/onsi/fantasy/mlb/blockbuster-tr... |
6/30/25 | Rafael Devers Trade Has Been Surprising Bust For Both Red Sox & Giants. It's been two weeks since the Boston Red Sox shocked the baseball world by trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants for two pitchers and two prospects. The move made sense for both clubs at the time, as the Red Sox wanted to fortify their pitching staff and the Giants sought a big bat to bolster their lineup. Both teams have gone 4-8 in their first 12 games since the trade, dropping multiple games in the standings. Boston has lost seven of its last eight games as its offense has disappeared, averaging just 3.83 runs per game without Devers compared to 4.84 runs per game with him. 6/30/25 | Braves could cut ties with $81 million All-Star in trade to Red Sox. If competing for a playoff berth is like pulling on a rope, the Atlanta Braves have pretty much exhausted all the slack they had by the end of June. At 38-45, the Braves are eight games out of playoff position. If the Braves' position in the standings doesn't improve within the next month, it's hard to envision a scenario in which trading for more veterans makes sense. On Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald named Ozuna as a candidate to fill the void for the Boston Red Sox that was left behind with the trade of designated hitter Rafael Devers. The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees even contemplated trading Ted Williams for Joe DiMaggio. The Yankees' Dan Topping and Tom Yawkey discussed such a deal until they sobered up the next morning. The reasons for such maneuverings can be multifaceted and complicated, including free agency, luxury tax situations, and disenchantment. 6/29/25 | Red Sox Might Regret Trading 24-Year-Old Rising Star To Brewers. The Boston Red Sox have made more than one trade in 2025 that might come back to haunt them. Everyone's been talking about the Rafael Devers deal as having regret potential (and for good reason), but the Red Sox also made a trade back on April 7 that might come back to bite. Boston sent 24-year-old starting pitcher Quinn Priester to the Milwaukee Brewers for prospect Yophery Rodriguez, the No. 33 overall pick in this year's Major League Baseball draft, and a player to be named later (which became minor-league right-hander John Holobetz). 6/28/25 | Giants Can Find Perfect Temporary First Base Solution in Trade for Orioles Slugger. The San Francisco Giants made the biggest trade in baseball so far this year when they acquired Boston Red Sox slugger Rafael Devers in a deal that rocked the league to its core. Devers, a former third baseman turned designated hitter, is expected to play some first base for the Giants after his refusal to do so with the Red Sox was a huge reason why he was eventually shipped out of town. Arriving to the Bay Area with a seemingly new attitude and a willingness to do whatever is asked, having Devers in the back pocket at first is a huge boost. 6/28/25 | Red Sox's Jordan Hicks Flashes Elite Arm With WooSox. The Red Sox received some encouraging news Friday night from Triple-A Worcester. Hicks, part of the haul from the blockbuster Rafael Devers trade, pitched the fifth inning in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Hicks, 28, lit up the radar gun, topping out at 100.1 mph, according to Masslive.com's Christopher Smith. “Hicks averaged 99.3 mph with his eight sinkers,” Smith reported Friday. 6/28/25 | Old teammates meet again as Giants visit White Sox. Former Boston Red Sox teammates meet again when Rafael Devers and Andrew Benintendi go head-to-head for the second straight night as the San Francisco Giants continue their road series against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday afternoon. Devers and Benintendi contributed one hit apiece to rather meager offensive performances by their respective teams in the series opener Friday, a game won 3-1 by the Giants. Actually, Benintendi's 1-for-3 raised his season average to .237 on a team that was held to one or fewer runs for the 23rd time this year by five Giants pitchers. 6/27/25 | Encouraging development emerges with top Red Sox pitcher from Rafael Devers trade. On June 26, one of the newest pitchers in the Boston Red Sox organization made his Triple-A Worcester debut. Harrison allowed four runs on eight hits in four innings. Harrison pitched better than the numbers, though. First, Harrison was reworking some of his pitches and adding others to his arsenal (most notably a cutter). 6/27/25 | 2 sneaky trades Mariners must make to boost World Series chances. The Seattle Mariners are two games over .500 heading into Friday. If Seattle wants to make it back to the postseason in 2025, they will have to make some important moves at the MLB trade deadline. The Mariners are on the cusp, and the next few weeks will determine what the team will decide to do at the deadline. In fact, Seattle was in the conversation for Rafael Devers before the slugging third baseman was traded to the San Francisco Giants. Source: https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/2-sn... |
6/26/25 | Wilmer Flores Has Been Giants Best Hitter in This One Key Metric. Offensive production has been tough for the San Francisco Giants to consistently produce throughout the 2025 MLB regular season. It is a major reason why they went out and acquired slugger Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox, hoping he would help elevate the lineup to another level so they can legitimately challenge the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. 6/26/25 | State Of Red Sox: Where Things Stand After 82 Games. The word of the year for the Boston Red Sox is inconsistency. There have been times in which the Red Sox have looked like one of the top potential contenders in the American League. There have been others in which the opposite could be said. The last couple of weeks are a perfect example of this. Boston swept the New York Yankees -- before trading Rafael Devers. Then took two out of three games from the Seattle Mariners. They scratched and clawed their way above .500 but now have lost five games in a row, including a three-game sweep by the Los Angeles Angels. The Red Sox have dealt with serious injuries. For example, Alex Bregman and Tanner Houck are out right now and Triston Casas and Kutter Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/red-sox/boston-red-sox-news... |
6/26/25 | Red Sox's Craig Breslow Doubles Down, Plans To Buy At Trade Deadline. The Red Sox haven't exactly looked like a winning squad since trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants. Alex Cora has been ejected twice. The Los Angeles Angels just pantsed them in a series that was never all that close. Craig Breslow, the man who pulled the trigger on that trade, will be tasked with deciding whether or not he should add prior to the trade deadline. 6/25/25 | Red Sox Must Address Lingering Rafael Devers Hole In Lineup. The Boston Red Sox have struggled since trading Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, going 3-5 on their West Coast road trip entering Wednesday's series finale against the Los Angeles Angels. Not surprisingly, the Red Sox offense has scuffled without its best hitter, averaging 3.25 runs per game without Devers compared to 4.84 runs per game with him. A big reason for Boston's funk is its failure to effectively replace Devers in the two-hole, which is supposed to be one of the most productive spots in the lineup. According to Tyler Milliken of “98.5 The Sports Hub,” Red Sox No. 2 hitters are batting just .199/.262/.349 since Devers' departure. Source: https://nesn.com/2025/06/red-sox-must-address-ling... |
6/25/25 | Red Sox star can opt out this fall, but agent is willing to discuss extension now (report). When the Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the Giants and shed the $250+ million remaining on his mega-contract last week, it became evident that chief baseball officer Craig Breslow would look for ways to re-allocate those funds. A logical place for them to go is Alex Bregman. Bregman, Breslow's big free agent signing of the offseason, is only under team control for this season because the heavily deferred three-year, $120 million contract he signed in February has opt-out clauses after both 2025 and 2026. If he chooses to do so, Bregman can test free agency once again this winter after earning a (deferred) $40 million salary from Boston. Source: https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2025/06/red-sox-st... |
