6/24/25 Former Tigers Disappointment Dominates in Minor League Start With New Team. The Detroit Tigers have had a bit of a roller coaster season in terms of pitching injuries and inconsistency, however it has not kept them from being comfortably on top of the American League Central. Earlier this year, the Tigers were faced with a roster decision which by the way things were going really was not much of a decision at all when they parted ways with disappointing veteran Kenta Maeda. After signing a lucrative two-year deal two winters ago, Maeda was a complete flop and things were only getting worse. As the veteran struggled mightily even out of the bullpen, it became clear the sides needed to part ways, and that is what happened when Maeda was designated for assignment last month.

6/23/25 Dominant Triple-A Outing by Forgotten Veteran Could Cause Cubs To Promote Him. The Chicago Cubs are expected to make some major moves when it comes to acquiring starting pitching next month as the MLB trade deadline approaches. With an offense that has World Series capability when at its best, the Cubs need to get the rotation depth to a place where a deep run in October becomes possible. When the Cubs signed veteran right-hander Kenta Maeda to a minor league deal in the middle of May after he was released by the Detroit Tigers, not many batted an eye. Maeda was having the worst year of his career even out of the bullpen for the Tigers, so Detroit decided they would rather pay his $10 million salary to have him not be on the team than try to salvage any more value out of the deal.

5/16/25 Jed Hoyer continues hilarious trend with latest Cubs' roster move. When Kenta Maeda was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers at the beginning of May, there was no doubt in my mind that Jed Hoyer's spidey senses were tingling. Two weeks later, Maeda is joining the Cubs' organization on a minor-league deal.
