3/26/24 Mets cut Luke Voit after he failed to make Opening Day roster. Luke Voit did not crack the Mets' roster and now is out of the organization. The Mets released the veteran first baseman, enabling Voit to become a free agent before the season starts and after a statistically poor spring from Voit. The 33-year-old went 4-for-34 (.118) with a home run, three walks and 14 strikeouts in the Grapefruit League, a minor league signing who was unable to win a major league job. The Mets released Luke Voit after a rough spring. Corey Sipkin for the NY Post J.D. Martinez was signed to be the designated hitter (once ready) and Zack Short and Joey Wendle will be backup infielders. At the moment, D.J. 3/26/24 Ex-Yankees slugger who felt he could 'be a stud again' gets dumped by Mets for second time. Luke Voit's road back to the major leagues just got a lot harder. After rejoining the New York Mets this offseason because he felt he had a shot to win a job as a designated hitter and backup first baseman, the former slugger was released Tuesday, according to Mike Meyer of Metsmerized. In 41 plate appearances in spring training, Voit had four hits, including a home run, 14 strikeouts and three walks.

3/05/24 Ex-Yankees slugger has chip on his shoulder with Mets: I can 'be a stud again'. When asked how he felt after going unsigned at the end of last season, Luke Voit said, “It sucked.” After signing a minor league contract with the Mets last June, Voit did everything to prove he belonged on an MLB roster. By July, it was clear that the Mets were out of playoff contention, leaving the 2020 home run champion to opt out of his contract. “Everyone wants to see their young guys play,” Voit told NJ Advance Media earlier this spring training.

2/29/24 St. Louisan Luke Voit a dark horse candidate to make New York Mets' Roster. Luke Voit just signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets last week, and now the St. Louis native is seen as a dark horse candidate to make the big league roster. The Mets, who signed Voit on Feb. 20, expect him to compete with prospect Mark Vientos for time at designated hitter. MLB.com writers picked dark-horse candidates to make each team's roster, and Voit was one of two selections for the Mets.

2/27/24 Ex-Yankees slugger could be 'dark horse' to make Mets roster. Luke Voit is back with the Mets again on another minor league deal, and he's down in Port St. Lucie competing for a job. MLB.com compiled a list of dark horse candidates to make each team's roster, and Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo lists Voit and Ji-Man Choi as his picks. “In a perfect world for the organization, Mark Vientos will rake this spring and run with the starting DH gig,” DiComo writes. “But if Vientos doesn't, or if veteran DJ Stewart struggles as much in Grapefruit League play as he did in September, the Mets could choose to carry Voit (a right-handed hitter) or Choi (a lefty) over one of those two.”
