5/12/24 Yankees' Lou Trivino shut down from throwing in injury rehab setback. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Lou Trivino's road back to The Bronx has hit a speed bump. The Yankees reliever, who had been throwing bullpen sessions in his rehab from UCL reconstruction surgery, has been shut down with elbow inflammation. Trivino saw Dr. Neal ElAttrache and the Yankees' team doctors and underwent imaging recently that revealed the inflammation, according to a team spokesman. 5/04/23 Yankees GM Brian Cashman offers few answers for rash of injuries. Injuries happen to every MLB team over the course of a season, but the Yankees have seemed to make an art form out of it this year. Rather, it has brought to light what has been a pattern of players brought in by general manager Brian Cashman who have been lost to stints on the injured list. After it was announced earlier this week that Lou Trivino would undergo Tommy John surgery, he became the final player from the 2022 trade deadline that Cashman added to finally succumb to injury since joining the Yanks. “The more recent moves have not worked out,” Cashman said during a nearly 30-minute chat with reporters on Wednesday.

4/25/23 Around the Empire: Yankees news. NJ Advance Media | Max Goodman: The bad news on the injury front continues to pile up for the Bombers. Reliever Lou Trivino, on the IL to start the season with an elbow sprain suffered in spring training, experienced a setback that could put his season in jeopardy. Trivino pitched well out of the bullpen after joining the Yankees as part of the Frankie Montas deadline deal, with a 1.66 ERA in 25 appearances, and will likely undergo tests to determine whether he will pitch this year.

4/20/23 This Week in Statcast - Albert Abreu's Ascension. Prior to the midsummer classic, the relief corps put up the second-best WAR mark (4.5) and ERA (2.89) in addition to being tops in FIP (3.05). Already down second-half staples Lou Trivino, Scott Effross, and Jonathan Loáisiga to begin this year, not to mention offseason addition Tommy Kahnle, I wouldn't blame you for anticipating a continuation of the bullpen's downward trend. There are some familiar faces propping those numbers up: Ron Marinaccio has more than held his own after I predicted he would stave off a sophomore slump, Michael King has returned to form despite diminished velocity, and Wandy Peralta is continuing to build on last season's success.

3/27/23 Yankees 2023 Season Preview: Lou Trivino. Surprisingly, Lou Trivino thus far has been the positive part of last deadline's big deal to bring in Frankie Montas. 2022 was a tale of two halves and two teams for Trivino. This was really the story of his first half out West — despite his noisy ERA, he was actually pitching fairly well.

3/19/23 Yankees' Lou Trivino made breakthrough with best pitch before elbow injury. When the Yankees shut right-hander Lou Trivino down earlier this month with a mild ligament sprain in his elbow, the reliever wasn't overly concerned about the extent of his injury or how many games he would miss. More than anything, Trivino was bummed that he wouldn't be able to keep throwing his cutter after making a major breakthrough with what used to be his best pitch. “You know how I know God has a sense of humor?” Trivino asked at his locker at Steinbrenner Field on Saturday. When Trivino was a rookie with the Athletics in 2018, his cutter was dominant.

3/09/23 Yankees' bullpen takes another hit. The Yankees will begin the regular season with two veteran relievers missing from their bullpen. Both right-handers Lou Trivino and Tommy Kahnle will start the season on the injured list, general manager Brian Cashman revealed on Thursday afternoon. Trivino has a mild ligament sprain in his elbow, per Cashman. “He's never really been hurt before,” Cashman said before a game against the Red Sox at Steinbrenner Field.

3/02/23 New York Yankees @ Pittsburgh Pirates: Lou Trivino vs. Mitch Keller. The Yankees travel to Bradenton to complete their first week of spring exhibitions, where they are set to take on Pirates. While we were given a brief bonus in the form of a TV broadcast of yesterday's 4-2 walk-off over the Nationals, today we will not be so lucky. Unfortunately, there is no Yankees broadcast of today's action against Pittsburgh, though you can watch the action on AT&T SportsNet if you happen to live in the Pittsburgh market (or if you're outside the Yankees' market, you can watch MLB.tv). Lou Trivino makes his first appearance of the spring, opening for the Yankees.

12/09/22 How Yankees can improve 2023 roster after Aaron Judge deal. But even if he thrives, Kahnle would be stepping in for Effross to join the returning Holmes, Loaisiga, Peralta and Lou Trivino plus — the Yankees hope — Michael King, who will be trying to make it back from a fracture in his right elbow. King might have been the most dominant reliever in the majors before he was injured last season. This is the current theme with the Yankees.

10/23/22 Yankees' Aaron Boone explains head-scratching bases-loaded bullpen decision. Lou Trivino came in with the bases loaded and one out and allowed all three runs to score, ballooning what had been a 2-0 Yankees deficit. Cole got into the tough spot by allowing a leadoff double to Alex Bregman and a walk to Kyle Tucker before Yuli Gurriel looped a single to right field to fill the bags. Boone hesitated at the first base line for a moment, seeming to contemplate taking out Cole.
