Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has been held out of the lineup once again on Saturday as he continues to nurse a sore left hamstring. Manager Torey Lovullo said they'll schedule him to play in the game Sunday. Gurriel was removed from the game Wednesday afternoon after two at-bats. The Jays have signed and traded for outfielders, but they haven't been able to develop any of their own. The last homegrown one was Lourdes Gurriel Jr., a converted infielder who debuted in 2018 and hasn't been with the team since 2022. Prospect Alan Roden could end that recent trend. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. came off the injured list and hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks bounced back after blowing a four-run lead and beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-4. The Diamondbacks moved into sole possession of the NL’s second wild-card spot by taking a one-game lead over the New York Mets. The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Gurriel is a career .278 hitter with 109 homers and 406 RBIs in 738 games with the Toronto Blue Jays (2018-22) and the Diamondbacks. Arizona designated infielder Luis Guillorme for assignment in a corresponding move. Guillorme, 29, appeared in 18 games for the Diamondbacks and batted .162 with four RBIs. At the time Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo expressed the hope and belief that Gurriel would only need the minimum 10 days to recover.
