7/04/25 | Blue Jays Transfer Anthony Santander To 60-Day IL, Call Up Notable Prospect. As the Toronto Blue Jays continue to win games and lead the American League East, they are still playing a bit short-handed. This winter, the Blue Jays were focused on making some significant additions in free agency to help prove that they are heading in the right direction when it comes to being a perennial contender. The decisions seemingly paid off with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. signing the mega-deal the team was hoping for, but the results of who they have signed have been mixed. Arguably, the most significant addition was bringing in Anthony Santander from the Baltimore Orioles. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/bluejays/news/blue-jays-tra... |

6/30/25 | Blue Jays OF Anthony Santander still not swinging because of partial shoulder dislocation. Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander still hasn’t been able to resume swinging a bat as he recovers from a partially dislocated left shoulder. General manager Ross Atkins said Monday that Santander had a left shoulder subluxation after crashing into the outfield wall in Anaheim in early May. Toronto put Santander on the injured list on May 30. Santander signed a $92.5 million, five-year contract with the Blue Jays in January. 6/15/25 | Disappointing Toronto Blue Jays Slugger Making Little Progress from Injury. The Toronto Blue Jays have surged since they placed outfielder Anthony Santander on the 10-day injured list on May 30. According to MLB.com, Santander is doing some baseball activities now, including throwing, at the team's complex in Florida. Worse, there doesn't appear to be a timeline for him to pick up a bat and begin taking swings. MLB.com lists Santander's timeline to return as potentially early to mid-July. 6/13/25 | Blue Jays Recent Surge Will Disappoint Several Teams Looking To Buy. The Toronto Blue Jays have been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last few weeks, winning 12 out of their last 14 games. This current hot streak is bad news for some franchises around the MLB because it means the Blue Jays will likely not be sellers ahead of the MLB trade deadline. In fact, they have been predicted to be on the other end of the spectrum by Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report, who believes they will go down swinging in an attempt to make the postseason. “Not only will Toronto hope Anthony Santander, Jeff Hoffman and Bowden Francis turn around disappointing seasons, but it will also likely make some additions to try to sneak into the playoffs as an AL wild-card representative, if not the AL East champions,” he wrote. 6/03/25 | Blue Jays Star Slugger Receives PRP Shot for Injured Shoulder. As the Toronto Blue Jays try to climb in the American League East standings, they are still going to be without one of their top free-agent signings for at least another week. It has been a frustrating season for the Blue Jays on offense so far. One of the players who has been the biggest disappointment for the team has been star-free agent signing Anthony Santander. The switch-hitting slugger was one of the biggest prizes in free agency, coming off a 44-home run year with the Baltimore Orioles. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/bluejays/news/blue-jays-sta... |
5/30/25 | Jays place OF Anthony Santander (shoulder) on IL. May 30 - The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Anthony Santander on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation and recalled outfielder Alan Roden from Triple-A Buffalo. A key free-agent acquisition in the offseason, Santander has instead struggled to a .179 batting average, six home runs and 18 RBIs in 50 games. His .577 OPS is his lowest in the past seven seasons. Santander, 30, is a career .242 hitter with 161 home runs and 453 RBIs in 796 games for the Baltimore Orioles (2017-24). An All-Star for the first time last season, he has a career .764 OPS. Roden, 25, made his major league debut on March 27. He batted .178 with one home run and five RBIs in 28 games for the Blue Jays earlier Source: https://www.reuters.com/sports/jays-place-anthony-... |
5/29/25 | Nine numbers that tell you everything you need to know about the Blue Jays' season. The Blue Jays are one-third of the way through the regular season and there have yet to be any signs they are on the verge of becoming a top contender in the American League. The Jays, who reached the 54-game mark during Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Texas Rangers, have been perfectly average with a 26-28 record. The Jays thought they added a middle-of-the-order bat with Anthony Santander and instead he has been one of the least productive hitters in the majors. After slugging 44 homers for the Baltimore Orioles last season, the 30-year-old has been limited to six with the Jays. Source: https://www.therecord.com/sports/baseball/nine-num... |
5/23/25 | Blue Jays news: Toronto mulling over Anthony Santander IL decision. Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter Anthony Santander left the 14-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday with a hip injury. On Friday, the club announced their next steps for Santander with the possibility of placing him on the injured list. Manager John Schneider claimed the Blue Jays are ramping up Santander on Friday and will continue doing so on Saturday to determine whether or not the 30-year-old slugger needs to spend time on the IL, according to Keegan Matheson. If everything goes swimmingly, then Santander would be cleared to play in Sunday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays. Source: https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/toronto-blue-jays/blu... |
5/22/25 | Blue Jays make scary announcement on Anthony Santander after leaving Padres game. The Toronto Blue Jays beat the San Diego Padres 14-0 on Wednesday night, but may have lost a starter in the process. Anthony Santander was removed from the contest in the seventh inning with left hip inflammation. Santander has reportedly been dealing with a hip issue for a week, but played on Wednesday night. Manager John Schneider announced the team's plan for Santander. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/mlb/toronto-blue-j... |
5/21/25 | Blue Jays-Angels trade idea brings 13-HR slugger to Toronto. The Toronto Blue Jays' offense is lacking a major power threat in 2025, which certainly wasn't the expectation. Entering play Wednesday, the Blue Jays are 24th in Major League Baseball with 42 home runs, and that's only because of a recent hot streak. No one on the roster has more than six, and free-agent acquisition Anthony Santander is hitting .185. For the Blue Jays to make a playoff push, which might be what is needed for several coaches and front office execs to keep their jobs, the power will have to continue to surge. 5/20/25 | Blue Jays Signing Anthony Santander Has Been Massive Mistake So Far. It has been an inconsistent season for the Toronto Blue Jays so far with the team hovering around the .500 mark. After what appeared to be a really strong winter for the Blue Jays, the hope was that the team was going to be a contender this campaign. Toronto has had some struggles convincing players to join the team in recent years, but the franchise was able to bring in some notable talent this winter. On paper, it appeared like the Blue Jays were going to be a better team, but that hasn't been the case as of now. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/bluejays/news/blue-jays-sig... |
5/19/25 | Veteran Blue Jays' Slugger Opens Up About Recent Struggles at the Plate. For big league hitters, any slight discomfort in their swing can lead to their confidence at the plate being thrown off entirely. Veteran Toronto Blue Jays' slugger Anthony Santander is experiencing this firsthand as he continues to work through several nagging injuries. Santander, who signed a lucrative five-year, $95 million free agent deal with the Blue Jays this past offseason, has missed multiple games over the past two weeks as he recovers from several minor injuries. According to MLB.com's Julia Kreuz, the former All-Star opened up on these struggles before the Blue Jays' game on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers. 5/18/25 | Orioles Place Tyler O'Neill on Injured List Again, Recall Dylan Carlson. This winter, the Baltimore Orioles knew they were moving on from Anthony Santander. Unlike Corbin Burnes, who they offered a megadeal to that would have kept him with the team for the long-term, they rarely engaged with their slugging outfielder despite him putting together the best season of his career. Instead, the Orioles signed Tyler O'Neill to a three-year, $49.5 million contract. While Santander isn't tearing it up with the Toronto Blue Jays by any means, O'Neill has been one of the most disappointing offseason signings in Major League Baseball with a slash line of .188/.280/.325, just two home runs -- one that came on Opening Day -- and 12 RBI. 5/12/25 | Blue Jays skipper makes important Anthony Santander announcement. The Toronto Blue Jays have started to play better recently, winning four straight on a West Coast road trip. After sweeping the Seattle Mariners, the Blue Jays have to feel a bit more confident heading into the bulk of the season, sitting just three games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East after struggling for much of the year. For the Blue Jays, however, getting healthy has to be something that starts to go their way in the near future. After making the moves they did during the winter, the hope was for the Blue Jays to be one of the better teams in baseball. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/toronto-blue-j... |
5/10/25 | Blue Jays Bo Bichette responds to open positions on other teams. The Toronto Blue Jays are sitting in third place in the American League East division and a losing record after the first 37 games. There is still plenty of time to turn things around, but the team might be disappointed with such a poor start after it added players like Anthony Santander, Max Scherzer and Jeff Hoffman this winter and locked in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to a $500 million contract. Unless there is a dramatic improvement, the Blue Jays could be headed toward some wholesale change. Manager John Schneider might be on the hot seat without some playoff wins added to his resume this year. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/toronto-blue-j... |
5/08/25 | Blue Jays rally from 4 runs down to beat Angels 8-5, avoid series sweep. Anthony Santander hit a go-ahead, two-run single during Toronto's four-run sixth inning, and the Blue Jays snapped their four-game losing streak with an 8-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night. Daulton Varsho homered and drove in three runs on three hits for the Jays, who rallied from an early four-run deficit with 14 hits to avoid a series sweep. 5/05/25 | Blue Jays make harsh Max Scherzer move after just three innings. The Toronto Blue Jays have a losing record but the front office is trying to turn that around. After making a slew of additions in the winter, including Andrés Giménez and Anthony Santander, the team made its biggest move of all by locking in franchise slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. with a $500 million extension shortly after opening day. Initially, that hasn't been enough to put the team into a playoff position, but the Blue Jays haven't stopped there. On Monday, the team signed veteran starter Spencer Turnbull in a move designed to shore up one of their primary weaknesses. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/toronto-blue-j... |
