And yet he hasn't had a plate appearance since 2022. Solak has the unusual distinction of appearing in two games for two different big-league teams without getting a plate appearance in either of them. The 29-year-old signed a minor-league contract with the Seattle Mariners this week. Solak was a pinch-runner on April 26 for the Atlanta Braves and, after being claimed off waivers by the Tigers , a pinch-runner in Detroit on June 10. He finished his season -- which included stops in five organizations -- with Triple-A Toledo. One of his former Mud Hens teammates will be joining him in the

When Nick Solak was designated for assignment -- again -- a few days ago, he went to his offseason home in Houston and waited to learn the next chapter in his career. On Friday afternoon he found out that he would be joining the Detroit Tigers, his fifth organization in a two-month span. Of course, Solak replied. When he left Houston, Solak thought it most likely that he would be assigned to Triple-A Toledo.

3/23/23 2022 in review: Nick Solak. With the 2022 regular season over, it is that time where we go back and take a look at the players who appeared for the Texas Rangers this past season. Today, we look at infielder/outfielder Nick Solak. Man, did things not turn out for Nick Solak like we hoped. .207/.309/.329 slash line in 2022 in the majors. He started Opening Day going two for three with two walks and a home run, and things just went to shit after that. Solak was sent down in mid-May. If you are a masochist, you probably want to know that he slashed .188/.257/.250 in the 25 games in appeared in after his Opening Day heroics, prior to being shipped off to Round Rock. That would be bad if he were still primarily a second baseman,

3/11/23 Nick Solak, Levi Stoudt among latest cuts from Cincinnati Reds camp. It always felt as if Nick Solak's route to a spot on the Cincinnati Reds roster would need to be a circuitous one, and for a time this spring it seemed as if things were falling in line for him. Joey Votto's gradual recovery from major shoulder/arm surgery has meant that Wil Myers might well spend more time at 1B early on, thereby opening time in the outfield, while a similarly slow recovery from Nick Senzel meant the outfield mix was further up in the air. As it turns out, that won't be in the cards for Solak, at least not as things currently stand. The Cincinnati Reds made another series of cuts on Saturday morning, and Solak was among those optioned to minor league camp.
