4/27/25 Injury updates on Shane Bieber, David Fry and Trevor Stephan: Guardians takeaways. A few of the Guardians' ailing elbows are getting closer to game activity, according to manager Stephen Vogt. Shane Bieber, David Fry and Trevor Stephan are all at different stages of their recovery from elbow surgery, and each could be returning to the field some time in May, said Cleveland's skipper prior to Sunday's series finale against the Red Sox. “They're all in various places, but all three of them should start game activity sometime in the month of May,” Vogt told reporters. “We can't give specific updates because it's day-to-day on their rehab, but they're all right now projected to start game activity sometime in May.”

4/08/25 Cleveland Guardians Should Sign This Pitcher Immediately. The Cleveland Guardians entered the 2025 MLB season with some significant questions in their starting rotation, and those concerns have certainly manifested themselves in the early going. The Guardians once again have one of the worst starting pitching staffs in baseball, as they have managed just one quality start through their first nine games. Yes, Shane Bieber is slated to return from Tommy John surgery midseason, but how much he will actually be able to contribute after having not pitched for over a year remains to be seen (plus, Bieber has a checkered injury history as it is). Cleveland can always try and acquire some pitching at the trade deadline, but that is several months away, and we don't even know if the Guardians—who were 3-6 heading into their three-game series against the Chicago White Sox—will remain in contention that long.

4/01/25 Guardians' Star Pitcher Receives Massive Injury Update. The Cleveland Guardians are banking on star pitcher Shane Bieber returning healthy from Tommy John surgery this season, and he appears to be making terrific progress. Bieber has been sidelined since last April, but he is working his way back and may be back on the mound sooner than many of us thought. As of the most recent injury update for Bieber, the right-hander could start throwing live batting practice later this month or in early May. This is a major development for the Guardians, who had one of the worst starting rotations in baseball without Bieber last season.
