1/25/25 Under-the-radar Red Sox signing gets fans hyped with recent comments. Free agent Patrick Sandoval signed with Boston Red Sox on December 20. Sandoval was arbitration-eligible after the 2024 season but was non-tendered by the Angels, making him a free agent. Boston's signing of Sandoval wasn't quite the blockbuster that the acquisition of Garrett Crochet was, but the signing was more for depth than anything else.

The Boston Red Sox entered the offseason with a need for starting pitching, and they acquired a number of them over the first few months, including former Los Angeles Angels starter Patrick Sandoval. Boston signed the left-handed hurler to a two-year deal worth $18.25 million, knowing that he's recovering from elbow surgery that will likely cost him a big chunk of the first year. Sandoval recently told MassLive that he was caught off guard by the Angels' decision to non-tender him ahead of the November deadline. “I wasn't expecting it at all,” Sandoval said.
