5/02/24 Josh Rojas' surprise April may not have surprised Seattle Mariners. The Seattle Mariners are sitting in first place in the American League West as they head out for their first road trip of May, and there are a few reasons they've been able to go 17-14 so far this season. Most of those reasons are on the pitching side, but if there's one player who deserves credit for his bat, it's Josh Rojas. The 29-year-old third baseman just put together one of his better months as a big leaguer, as he currently leads Seattle's regular players with a .313 batting average, .403 on-base percentage and .925 OPS in 24 games. Of the three players the M's acquired in the trade that sent high-leverage reliever Paul Sewald to Arizona last year, it's fair to say Rojas initially received the least attention.

4/30/24 Braves' Max Fried throws 6 no-hit innings, but bullpen loses no-no in 8th against Mariners. The Atlanta Braves lost a combined no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners in the eighth inning when pinch-hitter Josh Rojas singled off reliever Joe Jiménez. Atlanta starter Max Fried threw six no-hit innings, with the Braves turning to the bullpen to try to complete the no-no. Pierce Johnson struck out the side in the seventh. Jiménez walked Ty France to open the eighth and Rojas pulled a grounder through the right side of the infield for Seattle’s first hit. Fried was locked in a pitcher’s duel with Mariners starter Bryce Miller, who also threw six no-hit innings before he gave up two knocks — and the first run of the game — in the seventh.

4/24/24 Key figure for first-place Seattle Mariners has been 3B Josh Rojas. Pop quiz: With the Seattle Mariners 23 games into the 2024 MLB season entering Wednesday, who leads the team in batting average and on-base percentage? The answer, believe it or not, is third baseman Josh Rojas. In 17 games and 55 plate appearances, the 29-year-old Rojas is hitting .306 with a .382 on-base percentage and .429 slugging percentage for an .811 OPS.

4/08/24 Seattle Mariners Notebook: Potential arms moves; offense thoughts. A position player on the mound a second time in the first 10 games is not something you ever want to see, but there was Seattle Mariners third baseman Josh Rojas on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee making his second appearance on the mound for team this season. With just one out in the fourth inning and the Brewers leading 8-2, starting pitcher Emerson Hancock was lifted from the game after 88 pitches.

3/30/24 Mariners score three in 10th to stun Red Sox. The Seattle Mariners scored three times in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat the visiting Boston Red Sox 4-3 on Saturday in the third game of a four-game series. Julio Rodriguez singled with one out in the 10th to score Josh Rojas from third with the game-winning run. The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead when a Pablo Reyes single to right drove in Ceddanne Rafaela in the top of the 10th, and they extended their lead to 3-1 on an RBI single by Masataka Yoshida that drove in Reece McGuire with two outs in the inning. Seattle's Luke Raley drove in Ty France with a single to make it a 3-2 game, and Rojas' single plus an error on right fielder Wilyer Abreu put runners on second and third with one out.

3/03/24 Seattle Mariners' standouts from first week of spring training. The Seattle Mariners have hit their first day off since beginning Cactus League play at spring training in Arizona, and there has been no shortage of highlights. Third baseman Josh Rojas has been swinging a hot bat as well as impressing in the field.

2/20/24 Seattle Mariners Notebook: Updates on Luis Urías, No. 1 starter. Tuesday marked the first full-squad workout of Seattle Mariners spring training at the team's complex in Peoria, Ariz., which comes just four days before Cactus League play opens Saturday against the White Sox. An addition to the dings and dents list: Luis Urías, who is expected to platoon at third base with Josh Rojas, has been dealing with shoulder inflammation that turned up a couple of weeks ago when he arrived early to work with infield coach Perry Hill. Urías, acquired this offseason in a trade with Boston Red Sox, dealt with leg issues in 2023 and finished with a slash line of .191/.337/.299 (.636 OPS) in 52 games combined with the Red Sox and Brewers.

2/11/24 How will new platoon at third base work for Mariners?. Suarez is gone, traded away to Arizona in the Mariners' first salary-shedding move of the offseason. In 2023, Suarez played every game and was an elite defensive third baseman, leading all MLB players at that position in putouts. Perhaps the Mariners can recreate most, if not all, of Suarez's offensive production with their new plan to employ Josh Rojas and Luis Urias in a third-base platoon this season.
