4/29/24 Cardinals get crucial injury update on ex-Rookie of the Year candidate. The St. Louis Cardinals have been without a familiar face in the lineup since Opening Day. Outfielder Dylan Carlson, who is an everyday player when healthy, is slated to begin a rehab assignment in the minors this week, the team announced on Monday. Carlson injured his shoulder on March 25, three days before the 2024 regular season began. Carlson took batting practice at Busch Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

4/25/24 Hochman: Is Cardinals' Jordan Walker on path to become the next Dylan Carlson?. The fear — with all due respect to Dylan Carlson — is that Jordan Walker becomes Dylan Carlson. Of course, there's still some time for Carlson, 25, to become a productive major leaguer (be it in St. Louis or, as the trend has recently gone, in another city). The swatting switch-hitter debuted in 2020 — had a big postseason game, too, that pandemic season — and then tallied a .780 on-base plus slugging percentage in 2021, the year he finished third in the voting for National League Rookie of the Year. Man, if you had asked me in 2020 where Carlson would be as a player by 2024, I would've said: multitime All-Star.

4/20/24 Cardinals get pair of injury updates. It's been a slow start to the season for the St. Louis Cardinals as they're currently in last place in the National League Central. Two players hit the team's injury report as Dylan Carlson (sprained left AC joint) and Keynan Middleton (right forearm strain) are still unavailable, according to MLB.com. Carlson first hurt his shoulder on March 25 but seems to be progressing through his injury nicely.

First-Round Pick Viewed as Potential Suitor for Philadelphia Phillies A former first-round pick has been deemed a solution to help the Philadelphia Phillies struggles in the outfield. Author: Jon Conahan Apr 15, 2024 In this story: Philadelphia Phillies Dylan Carlson MLB It was another disappointing loss for the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, losing 9-2 to the Pittsburgh Pirates . The Phillies had an opportunity to win the series but failed to do so, splitting two games a piece. While giving up nine runs is never a recipe for success, the offense underperformed again. 3/25/24 Dylan Carlson's injury could force Cardinals to cover for another absence in the outfield. A few days shy of an opening day start in center field he earned with a superb spring, Dylan Carlson crashed into a Cardinals teammate and tumbled into uncertainty a few feet short of the outfield wall. Carlson and Jordan Walker collided in right-center field during the second inning of the Cardinals' stopover exhibition game against the Chicago Cubs on Monday at Sloan Park. A line drive found the seam between them, and when Walker dived for the ball, his shoulder connected with Carlson's leg, spinning the center fielder in the air and onto the ground — hard.

3/20/24 Dylan Carlson and Jose Fermin hit home runs, while Victor Scott robs one in a Cardinals win. Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson and Victor Scott II combined to put on a show, offensively and defensively, that should only stoke the flames of debate about the roster decisions ahead as spring training winds down. Carlson collected two hits, including a grand slam, while Scott walked, scored a run and stole a home run away from Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams with an dazzling leaping catch at the wall in center field. “You have two good players playing hard and showcasing what they're capable of doing and how they add value to a team,” Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said.

3/13/24 Dylan Carlson pierces scoreless game, launches homer to lift Cardinals to tie vs. Twins. A scoreless tie that began with a no-hit outing by their starter reached the seventh inning when the run the Cardinals had been waiting for arrived from the swing they had been waiting for. Dylan Carlson, from the left side, crushed a solo home run to straightaway center field at Hammond Stadium. "That ball was touched," manager Oliver Marmol said. The home run was Carlson's first of the spring and it came from the side where he has been doing the most work to untrack his power.

3/01/24 Electric prospect Blade Tidwell has chaotic spring debut for Mets. JUPITER, Fla. — Blade Tidwell's first exposure to MLB competition in a game setting was eventful, and that was even before he forgot to cover first base. The Mets' pitching prospect had already thrown a wild pitch on strike three to start the third inning Friday and allowed a bunt single and bloop to left field. Dylan Carlson delivered an RBI single before confusion reigned. Tidwell threw a fastball that ticked the knob of Paul Goldschmidt's bat and rolled toward the first-base hole. Goldschmidt remained at home plate as Pete Alonso fielded the grounder. Blade Tidwell throws during the third inning of a spring training baseball game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
