7/09/25 Minnesota Twins beat Chicago Cubs 4-2, but Buxton injures hand. MINNEAPOLIS (KNFL/KFGO/AP) — Ryan Jeffers and Carlos Correa each had an RBI as the Minnesota Twins scored a pair of first-inning runs for the second straight game in a 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night. Matt Wallner added a solo homer for the Twins in the third, which proved to be enough for right-hander David Festa (3-3), who went 5 1/3 innings and allowed a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Minnesota's bullpen tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings. Closer Jhoan Duran, who was unavailable Tuesday due to illness, earned his 14th save of the season. The Twins lost All-Star center fielder Byron Buxton to injury. Buxton was hit in the hand in the first inning. He remained in the game initially

6/21/25 Twins quieted in loss to Brewers: “It’s embarrassing”. The Twins haven’t been hitting particularly well. They haven’t been pitching particularly well. And on Saturday, they didn’t play defense particularly well, either. “You want to sum it up in one word: it’s embarrassing,” catcher Ryan Jeffers said. “We’re big-league ballplayers, and we’re not playing like a big-league club. We can’t expect to win baseball games and play like that, all around. ...

6/17/25 Twins lose fifth straight game despite Reds right fielder's blooper aiding homer. The Twins didn't help themselves in their third consecutive one-run loss. Their pitchers walked a combined eight batters, tying their second-highest total in a game this year. All six runs they gave up came with two outs. Two runs were unearned after catcher Ryan Jeffers, who exited in the fifth inning with a bruised right hand, dropped a third strike. A pinch runner was caught stealing in a one-run game.

5/02/25 Is there a tighter strike zone this year? Twins players have noticed it. BOSTON — After an inning in Cleveland on Wednesday during which multiple pitches weren’t called strikes that the Twins believed should have gone their way, catcher Ryan Jeffers suggested the strike zone has been called tighter this year. There’s a reason for that. The Athletic reported on Friday the league “negotiated a seemingly simple change in how home-plate umpires are graded and ...

4/25/25 Twins change up catchers’ playing time, giving Ryan Jeffers more work. For most of the past two seasons, the Twins have employed a fairly even split of playing time behind the plate. Ryan Jeffers would start one day, Christian Vázquez the next. Last year, each started 81 games with Jeffers playing 720 1/3 innings and Vázquez 719. That’s how things stood when the Twins started this season, too. But over the past week, that’s finally changed. Vázquez took a foul ...

11/04/24 Twins position breakdown: Catchers. For the second straight season, the Twins used only two catchers to start a game. In 2023, Ryan Jeffers and Christian Vázquez were the only two players to see even an inning behind the plate. This time, though, rookie Jair Camargo got some playing time — a total of one inning behind the plate across two games. A big part of the reason the Twins have been able to keep both of their catchers fresh is that they are committed to them splitting time behind the plate.

9/30/24 The Five Biggest Factors Behind the Twins' Late-Season Collapse. Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers strolled up to the plate Thursday night with the winning run on second base and no outs in the bottom of the 12th inning. The Twins—in desperate need of a win over the 100-loss Miami Marlins to stay in the AL wild card race—had left the winning run on base in the ninth, 10th and 11th innings. So, manager Rocco Baldelli asked Jeffers to bunt the winning run over to third base. Jeffers squared up. But instead of laying down a slow-rolling dribbler, his bunt attempt popped up and into the glove of first baseman Jonah Bride, who spun and fired to second base to catch Twins veteran Carlos Santana off second base for a double play . this team is so aggravating,

9/27/24 Twins Announcer Sounded Absolutely Fed Up on Call of Failed Bunt in Extra-Inning Loss. Perhaps no play better represents the Minnesota Twins ' recent collapse than catcher Ryan Jeffers's bunt attempt in the bottom of the 12 inning Thursday night at Target Field. With the game tied 5–5 and the winning run standing on second base, Jeffers tried to bunt but instead popped out to Miami Marlins first baseman Jonah Bride. Even worse, Bride caught Twins veteran Carlos Santana too far off second base and doubled him up for the second out of the inning. Play-by-play announcer Cory Provus had seen enough on the Bally Sports North broadcast. "Double play," he said. "Come on guys, that can't happen. Can not happen!" this team is so aggravating, you cannot get doubled on a popup bunt pic.twitter.com/fkaTtM3pmI

8/21/24 Ryan Jeffers becomes just fourth Twins catcher to reach this milestone. It got somewhat lost in the shuffle on Tuesday night as a bullpen blowup sent the Twins to a gut-wrenching loss, but it certainly wasn't lost on Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers. It's been an up-and-down season at the plate for Jeffers, who was among the Twins' hottest hitters to start the season but hasn't been able to sustain that success.
