4/30/24 Diamondbacks' Kyle Nelson to miss extended time after surgery. Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Kyle Nelson is going to miss significant time recovering from Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery, manager Torey Lovullo announced on Tuesday. Nelson met with specialist Dr. Gregory Pearl in Texas, who will perform the procedure. The Mayo Clinic defines TOS as pressure on the blood vessels or nerves between one's neck and shoulder. The D-backs moved Nelson from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL to open a 40-man roster spot for fellow southpaw Brandon Hughes.

10/02/23 Astros beat Diamondbacks 8-1 to earn third straight AL West title. The Houston Astros rallied to clinch their third straight AL West title, beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-1 behind Cristian Javier’s six strong innings and Alex Bregman’s two-run homer. Needing a win and a Texas loss to win the division, the Astros did their part by jumping on Kyle Nelson from the first pitch. Houston had a 5-0 lead after two innings and Javier held Arizona to three hits. Kyle Tucker had a sacrifice fly to finish with 112 RBIs, most in the AL and third in the majors. José Abreu added a two-run homer in the seventh to clinch Houston’s sixth AL West title in seven years after the Rangers lost 1-0 to Seattle. The Astros have a first-round bye in the AL playoffs while Arizona will play at Milwaukee in a best-of-three NL wild card series.

3/30/23 Meet the Arizona Diamondbacks' 2023 Opening Day roster. The Arizona Diamondbacks are set for Opening Day with a 26-man roster set with the Los Angeles Dodgers up in their first series. The team finalized the roster by recalling lefty Kyle Nelson from Triple-A Reno and reassigning right-hander Ryan Hendrix to minor league camp. Arizona also placed four players on the injured lists. 6/14/21 Indians ace Bieber out at least 2 weeks with shoulder strain. The Indians placed the right-hander on the injured list and recalled reliever Kyle Nelson from Triple-A Columbus. Bieber's loss is a major blow to Cleveland, which has managed to stay in contention in the first 2 1/2 months of the season despite a rash of key injuries. The Indians will now have to survive without Bieber, one of baseball's best pitchers, for at least a few weeks.

Kyle Nelson, a teammate of Indians' standout pitcher Shane Bieber on the Gauchos' College World Series team in 2016, was promoted to the big league club on Wednesday Nelson pitched at UCSB from 2015-17, including the ’15 and ’16 seasons with Bieber. "We are pumped for Nelly," UCSB head coach Andrew Checketts said.
