7/12/25 When it Comes to Seattle Mariners' Julio Rodriguez and His Struggles, Two Words Come to Mind. Entering play on Saturday, Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez is hitting just .244 with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs. When it comes to Rodriguez's struggles this season, a lot has been discussed, but I've landed on two words: Approach, and identity. ...You think he's figured it out, you think he's regressed, you think it's the approach, you think it's the mechanics, you think it's he's trying too hard... I have landed on basically, to me, one thought with Julio, that I think his approach is flawed right? In addition to the to the word approach is the word identity.

7/11/25 Mariners' Julio Rodriguez skips out on MLB All-Star Game. When fellow players controversially voted Julio Rodriguez into the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, fans once again condemned the fairness of the selection system. The Seattle Mariners center fielder will not be competing in the Midsummer Classic, per the team. “He will take the break to recuperate, rest and prepare for the second half,” the M's said in a press release, per Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports. Rodriguez has certainly not performed like an All-Star from an offensive standpoint, posting a .244 batting average, .301 on-base percentage, .386 slugging percentage and .687 OPS through 92 games this season.

7/11/25 BREAKING: Seattle Mariners' Julio Rodriguez Won't Participate in All-Star Game. The Seattle Mariners announced on Friday morning that outfielder Julio Rodriguez will not participate in the All-Star Game next week, despite being voted in by his fellow players. Julio Rodriguez who was voted into the 2025 All-Star Game via the players ballot, will not be able to participate this year. It's been a difficult first half of the season for Rodriguez offensively, who has seen his batting average drop to .244 and his on-base percentage dip to .301. The Mariners - and Rodriguez - will hope that some time off will help him recover, presumably mentally and physically.

7/08/25 Should the Seattle Mariners Drop Julio Rodriguez in the Batting Order?. It feels, to me, like it's time to move Julio Rodriguez down in the batting order for the Seattle Mariners. Not because Rodriguez is as bad as the vitriol online suggests, but because he could stand to benefit from a different perspective, and the team could stand to benefit from relieving some of the pressure on him. Rodriguez has hit second much of the year, and now, he's doing it in front of Cal Raleigh. While the logic may suggest that Rodriguez is getting more pitches to hit in front of Raleigh, he could also be getting others pitcher's best pitches, as they want to do all they can to avoid Raleigh stepping to the plate.

7/07/25 Boston Red Sox Outfielder Seemingly Takes Shot at Julio Rodriguez Over All-Star Game Snub. Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez earned his third All-Star appearance on Sunday afternoon, and Boston Red Sox outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela is evidently not happy about it. Rafaela re-posted on "X," a post from @RedSoxMuse_ which compared the numbers of both players, with Rafaela having the edge in most key categories. Rafaela has been excellent since May 27, posting the third-highest Fangraphs WAR in the American League since that time. While Rafaela has a right to be upset that he wasn't included, it's not really fair to take his frustration out on Rodriguez.

7/03/25 Julio Rodriguez delivers a go-ahead RBI single to lift the Mariners past Royals 3-2. Julio Rodriguez hit a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning and Randy Arozarena drove in two runs as the Seattle Mariners beat the Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Wednesday night. Rodriguez, who left the bases loaded in the fifth inning, atoned for that missed opportunity by hitting a first-pitch cutter from reliever Steven Cruz, who entered for Angel Zerpa (3-1), to the left side.

6/26/25 Former Seattle Mariners Infielder Delivers Opinion on Julio Rodriguez and His Approach. If the Seattle Mariners are going to make a push to the playoffs, they are going to do it, in part, because of Julio Rodriguez getting truly hot at the plate. Rodriguez has been solid this year, but not spectacular.

6/24/25 Julio Rodriguez Makes a Little Personal History With Home Run in Seattle Mariners Win. The Seattle Mariners beat the Minnesota Twins 11-2 on Monday night as Julio Rodriguez finally connected on his 11th home run of the season. Lacing a 1-2 changeup from Bailey Ober in the top of the third inning, Rodriguez rifled the ball out to left center field, making a little personal history in the process. Rodriguez has been guilty of chasing pitches most of the season, so for him to finally connect on something out of the zone is refreshing for everyone to see. Furthermore, it was nice to see Rodriguez hit the ball in the air after a seasons worth of ground balls.

6/24/25 Bryan Woo Has Career-Best Day in Seattle Mariners Blowout vs. Minnesota Twins. The Seattle Mariners had one of their best showings of the season in an 11-2 win against the Minnesota Twins on Monday at Target Field. The Mariners offense was the highlight of the evening as Julio Rodriguez, Luke Raley, Dominic Canzone and Cal Raleigh all homered — giving Seattle 14 in its last four games. Mariners starting pitcher Bryan Woo was also stellar, as Monday was his 15th start of the season.

6/22/25 Seattle Mariners' Julio Rodriguez Deserves Some Credit, But Still Needs Refined Approach. Heading into Sunday's contest against the Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez has, by far, the lowest strikeout rate of his career at 20.2 percent. For all the complaining about Rodriguez this season, there's a few things that can be true at the same time. The first, as I explained on the Refuse to Lose podcast, is that he deserves some credit here. Julio ?Rodriguez ?deserves ?some ?credit ?here.

6/14/25 Which Seattle Mariners Player Was Just Listed as a Surprising Candidate For World Baseball Classic?. When it comes to the 2026 World Baseball Classic, we expect several members of the Seattle Mariners to be on rosters around the world. Julio Rodriguez seems like a lock for the Dominican Republic while Randy Arozarena and Andres Munoz are likely to play for Mexico. Rowdy Tellez could also suit up again for Mexico and prospect Michael Arroyo could play for Colombia. Harry Ford is likely to play for Great Britain again and any or all of Cal Raleigh, Bryan Woo, George Kirby and Logan Gilbert could play for Team USA.

6/08/25 Mariners CF Julio Rodriguez in lineup vs. Angels. True to his word, Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez is in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim, Calif. Rodriguez was listed to bat second in the team's lineup on Sunday, one day after he needed to be helped off the field in an 8-6 setback to the Angels. The two-time All-Star was hit by batter Randy Arozarena's 98.1 mph one-hopper off the bone above his right ankle while attempting to steal third base. X-rays were negative. “There's a high chance that I should be in the lineup (on Sunday),” Rodriguez told reporters after the game. “So just seeing how it reacts through the night and like how I wake up tomorrow. But I feel very positive

6/08/25 With Julio Rodriguez in limbo, Mariners aim to halt skid vs. Angels. The Seattle Mariners will take a season-long five-game losing streak into their series finale with the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday afternoon in Anaheim, Calif. Two-time All-Star center fielder Julio Rodriguez told reporters that "there's a high chance" he could be back in the lineup despite having to be helped off the field in Saturday night's 8-6 loss to the Angels. Rodriguez was hit by batter Randy Arozarena's 98.1 mph one-hopper off the bone above his right ankle while attempting to steal third base. Rodriguez, who was 2-for-2 at the time of the injury and was ruled out on the play, was on the ground wincing in a pain for several minutes before limping off the field with the help of a pair of trainers.
