5/03/24 Three New York Yankees Prospects Exit Latest Top 100 Rankings. Three New York Yankees Prospects Exit Latest Top 100 Rankings The New York Yankees had plenty of turnover in the latest Top 100 prospects rankings in Baseball America. Author: Matthew Postins May 03, 2024 In this story: New York Yankees MLB Everson Pereira Luis Gil Three New York Yankees prospects left Baseball America's Top 100 prospect rankings for May, but for different reasons. Pitcher Luis Gil graduated from the rankings based on service time. Gil made the Yankees' roster for Opening Day in part due to the injury to reigning Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole. Gil was No. 100 in the rankings in April. The right-hander claimed a win over Baltimore on Thursday and is now 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA in six

4/17/24 Yankees Top Five Prospect Deemed Early Trade Deadline Candidate. Yankees Top Five Prospect Deemed Early Trade Deadline Candidate The New York Yankees No. 5 prospect is viewed as a prime trade candidate. Author: Jon Conahan Apr 17, 2024 In this story: New York Yankees MLB Everson Pereira The MLB trade deadline, not until July 30, will have a major impact on the New York Yankees . Starting the season as arguably a top-three team in baseball, the Yankees will certainly be looking to improve the roster. Pitching will likely be the focus during the deadline, both in the rotation and bullpen. For a contending team like New York, they can never have enough pitching. With teams deciding to sell at that point in the year, the Yankees will have a better idea of the

4/16/24 'Overhyped' Yankees prospect is most likely to be traded. Everson Pereira is currently ranked as the Yankees' No. 5 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. By Bridget Hyland | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com The trade deadline is not until July 30, but that doesn't mean it's too soon to look into the future. That's what ESPN's David Schoenfield is doing in what he calls the “Way-Early Trade Deadline Extravaganza Preview.” In it, he names a player (or players) from each team who is most likely to be traded. For the Yankees, he names outfielder Everson Pereira and pitcher Chase Hampton. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation. 3/02/24 Facing steep climb to Yankees' roster, Everson Pereira takes 'big step'. In a game where Everson Pereira swatted a home run to the parking lot beyond the left-field wall at Steinbrenner Field, a two-strike take by the rookie outfielder was what had Yankees manager Aaron Boone most enthused. On the very next pitch, Pereira pounced on another curve — this time, a spinning hanger right down the middle — and sent a 406-foot blast into the Tampa night. “Tonight was a big step for him” Boone said.

2/05/24 Around the Empire: Yankees news. Only three pinstriped prospects make his top 100, headlined by “El Marciano” Jasson Domínguez at 21. Everson Pereira (63) and Roderick Arias (98) join him. Conspicuously absent: Spencer Jones. Also missing: the recently departed Drew Thorpe.

10/14/23 Assessing the outlooks for the Yankees' 25-and-under crowd with offseason evaluations underway. More than a month before the Yankees' 2023 season came to a premature end, the team turned its attention toward the future. The Bombers truly started focusing on their youth on Aug. 22, when Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza were promoted. The Yankees are hoping that that young group includes a few future stars and contributors. Domínguez looked the part of the Yankees' future center fielder, but they'll need someone else in that position at the start of 2024.

9/14/23 What Yankees can learn from prospect's slow start since promotion. With the way Everson Pereira was raking in Triple-A, the Yankees prospect was poised to hit the ground running after his well-deserved promotion to the big-league club last month. All Pereira needed to do was rein in his aggressive approach, continuing to make improvements with swing selection to let his tools take over while adjusting to Major League pitching. It's still a small sample, but after 21 games, Pereira has looked overmatched in a Yankees uniform. The outfielder struck out two more times in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader, an uninspiring 5-0 loss to the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

9/05/23 Yankees prospect Will Warren is trending towards MLB consideration. The Yankees have called up Everson Pereira, Oswald Peraza, Jasson Domínguez and Austin Wells in recent days/weeks. While the Yankees can't guarantee him a rotation spot in what is left of the 2023 campaign for reasons that we will explain in a bit, right-hander Will Warren is trending towards making his MLB debut at some point in September. Warren, a 2021 draftee (eighth round) threw 123.1 Double-A innings between 2022 and 2023: he had a 4.02 ERA in 94 frames there last year, but made adjustments and improved that to a 2.45 ERA in 29.1 innings this season with a much better 32.2 percent strikeout rate (it was 20.6 percent in 2022 at the mentioned level).

9/02/23 LeMahieu lights the way for the rookies. The Yankees' youth movement is well under way, and the kids should provide some excitement. Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza have appeared overmatched in the early goings, but the rest of the 2023 schedule serves to inform the organization on the rookies' areas for improvement (and Jasson Domínguez sure looked good last night). With that being said, veterans on long-term contracts like DJ LeMahieu aren't going anywhere. LeMahieu's contract isn't quite an albatross, but he's going to be penciled into this lineup through 2026 (or at least 2025).

9/01/23 New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros: Series Preview. The Yankees' youth movement will be on full display this weekend against the Astros. Prospects Jasson Domínguez and Austin Wells will get their first crack at the big leagues, sparking extra interest in a Yankees team that has had few positives in recent months. What was likely thought of at the beginning of the season as a pivotal series for playoff positioning has turned into a prospect showcase for the Yankees with Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza in the mix as well. While the Yankees get an early glimpse of the future, the Astros are fully immersed in the present.

8/30/23 How the Yankees are solving their September roster crunch. Concerns over competitive balance (teams were allowed to carry different sized rosters) and length of games (the army of relievers available in the bullpen greatly increased the number of pitching changes in a game) prompted Major League Baseball to change the rules after the 2019 season. Now, the active roster only expands from 26 to 28 on September 1st. With Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza already in the big leagues, the general expectation seems to be that Austin Wells will be up next.

8/28/23 What Yankees still have to play for while playing out string to lost season. The white flag was raised last week in Yankees' land when they finally admitted there will be no big run toward a playoff push. Everybody else knew they were done, and GM Brian Cashman acknowledged it, too, when prospects Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza were summoned in from Scranton to get regular at-bats. The Yankees, who blanked the Tigers 4-1 on Monday night at Comerica Park, still do have a little something to play for besides pride. It would take a good September, but the 63-68 Yankees still can avoid a first losing season since 1992 by going 19-12 in their final 31.

8/28/23 Yankees on Deck: The case for more promotions in September. Now that Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza are up and playing regularly for the Yankees, it's possible that Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells could get a shot in September.

8/26/23 Isiah Kiner-Falefa talks free agency, Yankees' youth movement. When the Yankees called up Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza earlier this week, Aaron Boone spoke with some veterans whose playing time would be impacted by the promotions. Isiah Kiner-Falefa was one of those veterans. With Pereira and Peraza expected to mostly play left field and third base, respectively, the versatile Kiner-Falefa figured to lose as much playing time as any roster incumbent. “It's just part of it,” Kiner-Falefa told the Daily News.

8/25/23 Yankees letting kids play: Which top prospects are next in line for promotions?. Yankees prospect Everson Pereira sat hunched over at his locker on Thursday evening, his left hand clenching the glass display case that held the baseball he roped into the left-field corner a few hours earlier, the first hit of his MLB career. After taking some time to stare at the timeless keepsake in his own thoughts — showing the ball to right-hander Michael King, who leaned over from his locker to Pereira's right — the 22-year-old perked up in his chair, held the baseball next to his face and took a selfie, grinning from ear to ear. Pereira's first series in pinstripes featured some flashes of his potential and a few immediate learning experiences. While he looked overmatched in some of those plate appearances — namely his three consecutive punch outs on Thursday against Washington left-hander Patrick Corbin — this is all part of his process.

8/24/23 Aaron Judge hits fourth homer in 10 innings as power streak continues. The Yankees called up Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza this week, both as a way to look to the future and in hopes the rookies could spark the team. You know who could best spark the Yankees? The guy who blasted 62 home runs last year. Aaron Judge smoked his fourth home run in the team's past 10 innings, crushing yet another one to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead over the Nationals in the first inning in The Bronx on Thursday.
