4/24/24 Can the Orioles streak of journeyman gems continue with Albert Suárez?. The Orioles' collection of young talent has been the main reason for the clubs turn around the past couple of seasons. While the farm system has gained recognition, each season general manager Mike Elias seems to find a journeyman veteran, that seemingly comes out of nowhere to contribute to the team's success. In 2023 it was veteran pitchers Cionel Pérez and Jorge López, then it was Yennier Cano and Danny Coulombe last season, who all had career best years that were far from expected. This year the Orioles may have found another journeyman gem in starting pitcher Albert Suárez, who is 2-0 without giving up a run in his first two starts with the team.

12/21/23 The next Ryan O’Hearn or Danny Coulombe? A deeper look at the Orioles’ under-the-radar moves this offseason. Is it possible the next Yennier Cano, Danny Coulombe or Ryan O’Hearn was added by the Orioles in similarly low-key moves this offseason? Here's a look at the potential candidates.

11/16/23 Yennier Cano was a revelation in the bullpen for the 2023 Orioles. When Yennier Cano was traded to the Orioles as part of the package that sent Jorge López to Minnesota, he seemed like an afterthought or a way to make the 40-man roster math fit the swap. Mike Elias saw something in him and we saw exactly what it was in Cano's incredible 2023 season. Cano made his major league debut with the Twins in 2022 and it had not gone well in a small sample size. Three games with the Orioles later that same year did nothing to improve his season statistics.

11/08/23 Remember them? Tracking the 107 ex-Twins who played elsewhere in 2023.. José Berríos won a Gold Glove, Yennier Cano finished second in MLB in holds, and Kyle Gibson earned a career-high 15 wins, four more than any Twins pitcher in 2023. But the brightest star among the 107 former Twins who played elsewhere in 2023 wasn't a pitcher. And it wasn't a surprise, either. Miami's Luis Arraez followed up his AL-best .316 average in 2022 with a .354 season for the Marlins ...

9/23/23 Orioles’ 2-out rally in 9th goes to waste in 9-8 walk-off loss to Guardians as bullpen is again asked for too much. After the Orioles manifested a two-out rally to take the lead in the top of the ninth on Aaron Hicks’ two-run double, All-Star reliever Yennier Cano allowed a walk-off two-run double in a 9-8 loss to the Guardians.

9/03/23 The Orioles’ trade of Jorge López last year was controversial. It ended up being a steal. | ANALYSIS. The Orioles claimed Jorge López off waivers Saturday, bringing last season's much-debated trade full circle. He will soon join a bullpen now headlined by Yennier Cano, one of four pitchers Baltimore received from the Twins for López.

8/29/23 Despite losing MVP, Orioles still in good shape to win division. The Baltimore Orioles suffered a major blow to the team's morale last week as All-Star closer Félix Bautista suffered an elbow injury in a game against the Colorado Rockies. Bautista has arguably been the Orioles' most valuable player this season, and his loss will create a ripple effect in the bullpen as the next man will be asked to step up. Luckily for the Orioles, the next man up is also an All-Star who is having a great season in Yennier Cano. The loss of Bautista may have been a huge blow for Orioles fans, but the team is still in good shape to make a playoff run.

8/27/23 Orioles shut down by Ty Blach, one of the worst pitchers of their rebuild, in 4-3 loss to Rockies. Reliever Yennier Cano allowed an unearned run in the top of the ninth, a half-inning after Ryan O'Hearn's game-tying pinch-hit two-run home run, as the Orioles fell to Ty Blach and the Rockies, 4-3, in Sunday's series finale.

8/06/23 Orioles get strong outings from unlikely members of the bullpen in 2-0 win over Mets, completing series sweep. During the Orioles' surge this summer to the top of the American League standings, manager Brandon Hyde has frequently said he's wary of how much he's used his dominant relief duo of Yennier Cano and Félix Bautista. The vast majority of the Orioles' wins have been close, and the middle of Hyde's bullpen has shown cracks, causing the fifth-year skipper to oftentimes overuse Cano and Bautista in high-leverage situations. Entering Sunday, Cano had pitched in over half the games he's been on Baltimore's roster for, while Bautista had pitched on back-to-back days 10 times and more than one inning on eight occasions.

7/27/23 Orioles trade deadline speculation: pitching. The Baltimore Orioles have the best record in the American League and, at this point, it would take a pretty awful final few months for them to fall out of a playoff spot. Outside of maybe the best closer in baseball, Félix Bautista, the relief pitching is in shambles. Yennier Cano at best needs to rest to be effective down the stretch. The losses of Dillon Tate and Mychal Givens are huge and the gap they have left hasn't yet been filled.

7/26/23 Orioles lose to Phillies, 4-3, as All-Star Yennier Cano allows 2 runs in 9th: ‘I’m also human; I make mistakes’. All-Star reliever Yennier Cano gives up two runs in the ninth inning, as the Orioles squander a one-run lead and lose, 4-3, to the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park.

7/23/23 Gunnar Henderson fuels Orioles past reeling Rays. The Orioles, who have won 12 of their last 15 games, took three of four from the Rays for their first series win in six years at Tampa Bay. Mike Baumann (7-0) did not allow a hit in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win. Yennier Cano added a hitless eighth inning and Felix Bautista allowed two singles in the ninth before striking out Wander Franco to secure his 28th save.

7/17/23 Checking in on the reliever trade market. There's a lot to like about these Baltimore Orioles. All-world closer Félix Bautista was unavailable after appearing in the first two games of the series. The same was true for set-up man Yennier Cano. Fortunately, starter Kyle Bradish had gone 7.1 innings, and the Orioles entered the ninth inning with a five-run lead.

7/03/23 4 Baltimore Orioles headed to the 2023 All-Star game. The Baltimore Orioles will send four players to this year's MLB All-Star game, the most the team has sent since 2016. It marks the first career All-Star selection for Félix Bautista, Yennier Cano, Austin Hays, and Adley Rutschman. Shohei Ohtani became a two-way All-Star for the third straight year when he was picked for the American League pitching staff on Sunday, and eight Atlanta Braves were chosen for the July 11 game in Seattle — the most of any team since 2012.

6/07/23 Homers from Aaron Hicks, Ryan O’Hearn not enough as Orioles fall to Brewers, 4-3, in 10 innings. The Orioles were five outs away from squeaking out a one-run win against the Brewers, but Milwaukee tied the game in the eighth off Yennier Cano and won it with a walk-off single from Joey Wiemer in the 10th off Austin Voth.
